Very High end Pub Room, including 4 poster bed, large sitting area, bathroom with full size bath and separate shower. Walls a bit thin, and was kept awake a bit by a nasally challenged guest in the adjacent room, but generally a fantastic place to stay. Ate in the restaurant, and was really surprised by the quality, portion size and imagination of the dishes on offer. Service was impeccable, and staff were particularly considerate, which in a busy eating house was a pleasant surprise. Would highly recommend to to others and quite happily go back in the future.

This is very much a real pub with all the action including food orders at the bar. However our room was very nice, well furnished, comfortable, good bathroom etc. We slept well until we were woken at 7am by someone putting out the empties (and a pub has a lot of empties!) outside our window.
What we ate there was very good; quite an imaginative ploughmans and scallops with black pudding, washed down with their first rate beer. The eating area is in the pub however and rather basic. We also appreciated the kind and helpful staff and would certainly consider a return visit.

Me and my husband visited this hotel after recommendations from friends. We booked in for 2 nights bed and breakfast in a superior room.
On arrival we were checked in quickly and efficiently by a member of staff who also showed us to our room, very friendly.
The room was gorgeous, Huge bed, tv , table with 2 chairs , dressing table with stool. The bathroom was beautiful with a full sized bath and shower cubicle, with all the toiletries u will need. Extremely clean, and we were very impressed.
We decided to eat our evening room at the hotel on the 1st night, food was delicious, portion sizes were very good, didn't even have room for dessert . The atmosphere in the restaurant/pub was really lovely, friendly people and all the staff were superb from start to finish.
Breakfast too was delicious, hot fresh food a great start to the day.
Would definitely recommend anyone visiting this beautiful part of the lakes to give this hotel a try.

We will be back.

Very nice, big rooms. A very good bathroom, with a shower and a bath. Very clean, comfortable beds. The food at the restaurant was very good and the portions were big.

Nice breakfast with a couple of hot choices to choose from plus a cold buffet. Very good and friendly service.

A quaint old building, full of dark wood and beams. Very traditionally English and lovely.

It's in a lovely setting too as there are lots of old cobbled streets and lanes to nose around within a short walking distance and a few shops selling local produce, gift shops, walking gear shops, pubs that do food, as well as a couple of cafes.

The bedrooms were modern country style, but still had character. We were in the annex which is just across a small lane, which I'd guess may be quieter than the main hotel as it only has 3-4 rooms in it. Bathroom also modern and stylish, all was well kept and clean. Bed was comfy.

The hotel bar was in the older part and very quaint. The staff were very busy but always willing and smiling - they do yummy cocktails which we sampled and would definitely recommend! The breakfast in the morning was good - only a small menu for hot food but all very good quality, cooked fresh and cooked well. They also offer cereals, juices and you can even have a bucks fizz if you fancy it!

I think it was the nicest Inn in the village, and perhaps a little more pricey, but you get what you pay for :)

Wonderful weekend spent here with family and friends. Hotel was beyond expectation. Warm and comfortable, furnishings superb. My room was excellent and bathroom stunning.. food was so good we didnt need to eat elsewhere at all. Fab entertainment over the weekend as owners had put on a murder mystery weekend ..such fun. All staff were attentive and gave great service. Would highly recommend this be your choice of hotel if travelling to Lake District.

Room Tip: All good rooms as far as i could see.

I booked two superior rooms for 2 nights for our Finnish friends who were visiting the Lakes with us. (Four Poster in room 2). Rooms were Boutique Country hotel style very individual and plush. Bathrooms with lovely deep baths and showers. Lovely and clean and well kept.
Large flat screen TV and drinks making facilities were available making a real home from home.
Low ceilings in one room so if you are tall then opt for room 2. Beds amazingly comfortable and we all slept very well.
Reception staff were friendly and efficient and offered advice on places to stay check in/ out was very smooth.
Breakfast were good though we had to ask for some things, as the breakfast buffet was not replenished, so more attention to keeping it replenished would be beneficial. The scrambled eggs and salmon on muffins were light and tasty.
Meals in the pub were plentiful portion sizes. Service was good and all staff were friendly. Food was tasty (see photos) We ate here both evenings as the menu was good and reasonably priced.

It was quite expensive and I did wonder if we should have chosen one of the many country house hotels which were a similar price and quality. However I am glad I booked the Queens head as the lively pub atmosphere, great mix of customers and friendly staff really added to our weekend. We talked with loads of interesting people many dog owners. The place was warm and friendly. There was no noise from the bar in either room.

Thanks to staff for making our break so memorable. We will return.

Room Tip: Rooms 2 and 3 large generous suites. Room 3 has low beamed ceilings and a super king bed. Room 2 has...
