Arrived last Friday to a warm welcome from Steve and Sharon. Tea and cakes provided on arrival - delicious. Rooms warm and comfortable and great breakfast cooked exactly the way you like it. We opted to have an evening meal on the second night and to be honest, it was a great experience, profesionally presented and cooked. Look no further than this great B&B in Hawkshead, you wont regret it. Many thanks from John, Mary, Noel and Lin !

We tend to do "self catering" in The Lake District but this was a great find as we only found it last minute. We booked it about a week prior to our visit. The B&B is right in the centre of the lovely village. On arrival we had a lovely cup of tea and cake all made by Steve. Room 3 was our first room which is very cramped for 2 persons we only had to spend 1 night. We moved to room 2 for the rest of our visit which was bliss. Hence the Very Good rating, had the whole of the visit been in room 2 it would have been excellent. The breakfasts are fanastic the quality of the food excellent. We had tea and lovely cake every day and even on our return home Steve gave us our cake to take home. Thank you Steve and Sharon we will see you again. Ken and June.

Room Tip: Room 3 is big enough for 1 person really, Steve and Sharon should make into a single. To maintain the excellent rating.

We had a fantastic one night stay at the School House Cottage. Steve and Sharon were very hospitable and attentive from the moment we arrived. We had a welcome drink and chocolate cake in the living room with our hosts and shared travel stories. The bedroom was large with a comfortable double bed and a wonderful view of the garden together with an en-suite bathroom. Breakfast was made to order and comprised cereal, orange juice, coffee, a full English and fresh fruit. The brown toasted bread is to die for!!! The B&B is at the far end of the village so it isn't noisy when the pubs close and is only a pleasant 5 minute walk to the centre. This will be my B&B of choice the next time I am in the Lake District as Steve and Sharon couldn't do enough to ensure their guests have a great stay with them.

Room Tip: Ask for a bedroom overlooking the garden.

Recently stayed here with my partner and had a pleasant stay. Steve and Sharon are a lovely couple who couldn't do enough for us. The location is lovely, bang in the centre of the village. The house is cute with a real traditional feel and a nice, well established traditional garden. A very peaceful stay topped off with a nice breakfast.

Myself and seven other friends traveled to Hawkshead for a walking weekend, to be supplemented by some good food and sampling of local real ales. Hawkshead is a good place to do this with four pubs who all provide good beers and an excellent selection of food. However, I would truly recommend the hospitality and quality of food served by Steve and Sharon during our stay.

Our group could not all be accommodated by one guest house, so we split our stays between three locations. I truly believe that my self and one one other of our group had the best experience. Steve and Sharon are wonderful hosts, always there to welcome you on arrival and whenever you return each day, with the offer of tea and cakes and dinner if you want it. The breakfasts are served in their dining room around one large table with everything you could wish for and all freshly cooked whilst you enjoy cereals, yogurt and fruit. The rooms were very pleasant, clean and fresh and I hope to return at some time soon with my wife for a more leisurely weekend.
