Exc cafe, good prices & choice.

Hawkshead is great if you are on a bike, but parking a car in the village is a rip off. Yellow lines everywhere.

Its not the most atmospheric of eateries and lacks much of the charm that most other cafés and pubs have in the lakes, but the food is mostly home made and quite tasty, the only downside to the café is the prices - they're on the expensive side when it comes to cafés. They have the edge here as there isn't too much choice when it comes to this type of café in hawkshead (plenty of pubs though).

Parking is close (you won't miss the café if you park in the main car park) though its pretty expensive and its one of those terrbile CCTV monitored "enter your registration" that are become the surge of the lakes, making people scout around for other more convenient parking.

We ordered a baked potato to go with our high tea as we didn't think that the high tea alone was going to be too filling. It turned out this was the right choice to make as the scones were slightly larger than cupcakes (and appeared to be bought in) the sandwiches were fresh, on very good bread; but the veggie option here is....Cheese. this is topped off with 4 bite size pieces of Flapjack and Caramel Shortcake. High Tea is probably worth closer to £10 max, so £12.50 felt like a push. Baked Potato looked a little lonesome on the plate (see picture) and at £5.50 could have used a bigger salad!

All in all, the food was all quite tasty, but probably not enough of it to warrent the prices paid.
Worth a stop off? yes certainly, you won't be disapointed by the quality of the food at least.
