“Fabulous cottage in wonderful location”
Reviewed 2 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

This is a lovely little cottage situated off a quiet road on part of a private estate. The cottage is in a peaceful location but not too far from the village so you don't feel isolated. The cottage itself is lovely. The kitchen, bathroom and lounge are particularly lovely. The wood burning stove is a treat. The owner is very welcoming and provides a welcome pack of goodies which is super. There is a garage at the house which is great for storing bikes if you are keen on cycling. There are lots of fantastic walks from the house. Latterbarrow provides fantastic views of Windermere and if you get up early enough and make the short climb to the top you can watch the sun come up over Windermere! Beautiful. We will hopefully return next year!

“2nd time under new owner!”
Reviewed 23 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

I really don't have too much to say this year as by coming back I think that just about says it all. Every amenity available, tranquil setting and total peace and quiet. We will come back year after year. This year we came with our 2 year old grandson who loved the freedom!

“Fantastic cottage, perfect location, everything you need for a stay in The Lakes.”
Reviewed 9 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

An excellent cottage in idyllic surroundings. Situated just a short walk from Hawkeshead in a peaceful location and perfect for walks from the doorstep. Would recommend the walk to Latterbarrow for views over Lake Windemere and the walk to Wray Castle. The cottage had everything we required for a family of 5 and Geoff ( the owner) couldn't have been more helpful. Excellent advice on local eateries and walks and the welcome pack on arrival was greatly appreciated (especially from the children!!) Our only regret is we wished we had booked for longer.

“Cosy, well situated Lakeland cottage”

We stayed at Gillbank cottage for a mid gcse break and it was just the ticket. The cottage is perfect for couples or a family of four with everything you should need to self cater and relax. Every window in the cottage provides a lovely Lakeland view and it has a really cosy lounge and wood burner for the evenings. Geoff (the owner) was really helpful and a very nice chap who made a fuss of both our teenage son and 6year old daughter on arrival. Despite him having a long journey back after meeting us he had plenty of time for us, explaining everything about the cottage so we were well informed and able to enjoy our stay. It's also a lovely location near Wray castle and walking distance to the pubs and quaint shops in Hawkshead. Perfect!

“Just Perfect”

Immaculate cottage, perfectly located with a short (20 minute) walk from the centre of Hawkshead. But far enough away to have no road noise, so there was absolute peace and quiet. After long days out in the sunshine (we were lucky enough to have fab weather!) to sit in the lovely garden listening to the birdsong was just bliss. The cottage was very well equipped with everything and more that you needed. Much more so than many other cottages we've stayed at. Geoff, the owner of the cottage, was there to greet us on arrival to show us how everything worked, which again was unusual and most welcome. This greeting also came with a lovely welcome pack, which was such a smashing gesture. All in all we've just spent the best weekend ever spent in the Lake District and we've been visiting for a number of years. We'd love to return to Gillbank.
