If your taste is for decent, substantial, well-presented bar-food at fair prices, I very much doubt if you'll be disappointed here.
A good choice of food, some traditional staples and some rather more adventurous, and the beer seemed to be on good form. Comfortable surroundings... not too cramped; some comments seem to think the place is tatty... I think it's just comfortably used. Who wants a pub where everything is squeaky-new? Not me at any rate.
The accent is rather more on food than drink, and I have never stayed so can't comment on the rooms, but I will certainly be using The Station again... and if you have to wait for a train at Oxenholme, what better place to do it?.

We stayed for two nights in December and found the rooms to be very good, Spacious, clean and well presented. We have stayed here for the past 10 years or so. Food excellent as are the staff . The owners David and Edward are attentive friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are excellent, spacious, clean and warm. Breakfast was excellent. Service was good and the staff were delightful. We will be returning next December and are looking forward to it already.

The Station is our local and we have eaten there lots of times. Went for the steak night (Weds and Thurs) which was fantastic value with flavoursome, tender meat and a generous portion served by pleasant if a little distant staff. We do feel though that the pub in in need of some re-decoration and re-upholstering, it's clean but looking dated and shabby. We appreciate that times are hard in the pub trade but think a bit of investment in the decor will help to keep customers coming through the door.

Unlike some of the previous reports I found all the staff very obliging, professional and pleasant. There is a comprehensive menu and a choice of smaller portions on some dishes which included a very tasty lasagne.

Extremely handy for the railway station or for heading out of Kendal towards Sedbergh and the Yorkshire Dales.

Went for a bite to eat on Sat 3rd Nov for lunch with a group of 10. All the food (bar one!) arrived together and was enjoyed by all. The majority had the homemade burger, but I chose the steak and kidney pudding - Unfortunately I was slightly disappointed with it - not many pieces of meat in there, but what I did have was tasty enough and didn't warrant a complaint. They do nice "Very Chunky" chips at the Station - lovely..
If you're in the area try this pub - I don't think you'll get a bad meal

We stayed for three nights in October and found the rooms to be very good, Spacious, clean and well presented. Sound proofing leaves a little to be desired but did not present too many problems. Food was excellent, lasagne was especially good. Breakfast was excellent. Service was good and the staff were delightful. Would certainly stay there again.

I have dined here several times in the past couple of years and have always been very impressed. However, my last couple of trips have been very disappointing. Typically, when I have guests with me, it would seem the approach to customer service, food and the overall running of a pub has become very blasé.

Getting served at the quiet bar proved challenging, the 3 young bar staff seemed engrossed in their own conversation, with only one doing any serving. An apology was given when it was evident we were waiting to place an order, but it would have been simple enough to avoid.

We went later on a Saturday evening, about 15 minutes before the kitchens closed, and upon trying to order several of the specials, we are informed that the kitchen had begun to pack some of the prep food away as the chief was in a hurry to leave on time. Appalling!

Unsurprisingly, the food arrived in record time, but prompts had to be made for condiments, cutlery etc. No complaints could be made about the food, it was spot on, its just a shame the rest of the experience left a lot to be desired.
