Worth the hill for the reward at the end

RIchard is very helpfull with local knowledge.and both very pleasant and chatty hosts
The room was very clean and comfortable and sooo quiet, had good nights sleep
Breakfast was just what was needed

Thank you Richard and Wendy for a great few days at Easter . Room was spacious, comfortable and spotless. Nice touch in the room for Easter (chocolate treats) . Lovely breakfasts. Nothing too much trouble. We will be looking at booking again in the autumn. Very good local information from Richard.

A huge thank you to both Wendy& Richard for a lovely comfortable bed, with very thoughtful little extras that make you feel special - even an Easter treat on my courtesy tray - yummy and so cute. The breakfasts were perfectly prepared and served. They couldn't have been more helpful, even going to the lengths of phoning to book a day's outing. Great local knowledge, very informative. very friendly and helpful. I will definitely come again - and the hill really isn't that bad when there is such a great reward at Hillside. Thank you - best wishes from Diane.

Well yet again have just returned from a fantastic couple of days at Hillside bed and breakfast in Kendal. The standard is consistent which is excellent by the way. Nothing is too much trouble, Richard and Wendy are the perfect hosts and will go the extra mile to help you out. Breakfast is first class. Thank you so much for a brilliant stay and look forward to seeing you both soon, thanks for lending us a map.

We booked Hillside last minute so that we could go to a wedding in Kendal. I wasn't sure what to expect, having not stayed in a B&B for a very long time. But from the moment we arrived we felt so welcome. It's on a hill from the town centre. We arrived later in the evening in the dark and rain but it was easy to find. There's an obvious sign. Found somewhere to park and then Richard gave us a parking permit so we could park closer by.

We picked the smaller, cheaper, room. It was a nice size and was very cosy. Felt at home immediately. Toilet was described as compact, and it is! But we weren't bothered as felt it was described fairly online.

Breakfast was delicious with a range of options. On the first morning we both had poached egg on toast. Yummy! The dining room was immaculate, and the whole B & B was pristine clean.

Richard was an excellent host. He was polite and friendly and gave us some really helpful information, without even having to ask. We just felt so welcome. We will definitely go back.

Excellent location, close into a large town between Lake District and Dales National Parks. Great hosts Richard & Wendy, with deep local knowledge they enjoy sharing with guests, and a flexible approach to helping their guests in any practical way. Clean, well-equipped rooms in a late 19th century town house. Breakfast was excellent.

Clean and tidy. Staff were very warm, friendly, welcoming and proactively helpful! Delicious breakfast.
Would have liked a larger single room :). Was a pain to walk uphill sometimes but not enough to deter me from returning. Thankyou, Richard and Wendy for a pleasant stay.
