This is a quiet, clean family-run B&B, with welcoming, friendly, professional and efficient hosts, located a few kilometres from Kendal. The beds were exceptionally comfortable.

It was a pleasure staying there, and the cooked breakfast and home-made bread were fantastic.

For evening meals, there is a pub nearby (100 m or so) serving good food, with a big play area outside, so this is a good place to stay if travelling with children. It is also dog-friendly.

Highly recommended.

Lovely building and location. Our hosts were great and friendly. We stayed for 2 nights. We were in room 2 the four poster. The room was clean and tidy. Lots of toiletries. The cooked breakfast was excellent and Allan delivered it with precision. We were 5 min from Kendal. It had everything we required. There was a varied range of DVD's and books downstairs for anyone to use. I would definitely go back again and would recommend it.

Family friendly hotel in lovely location. We had a family room that accommodated our 5 year old in a single bed and a 2 year old in a travel cot. Lovely room with space for the children to play and bathroom with lots of extra toiletries. There is free wifi (instructions already in the room), lots of drink choices and goodies for the children. The welcome and attention to detail for your stay is such a lovely thought after a long journey with very tired children.

The hotel is next to lovely little walks and The Station pub is a 3 minute walk away which served great food at reasonable prices and has a brilliant play area for children up to 14. There is also crazy golf.

Breakfast at The Glen was lovely too and there is a very wide choice of fruit, cereals or cooked breakfast. We also enjoyed the hot tub which was our little bit of luxury before heading off to our campsite in Stirling for a week to enjoy the Commonwealth Games.

Alan and Chris are excellent hosts and I would highly recommend.

Motorcycle friendly accommodation is not always easy to find but here's an establishment that went way beyond simply "good". It was first class.
We stayed at "The Glen" for four nights in early July, touring the Lake District on our Harley Davidson Motorcycle. First impressions were good! a nice large tarmacked private car park off the road, the surface was in excellent order. Much more bike friendly than the usual gravel trap.
It got better, we were immediately offered the use of the private garage for the Harley, the garage is on site just by the main entrance to the property. It is secure and we could come and go as we wished.

On arrival the room was ready, presented spotlessly clean with good quality bedding, fittings and toiletries. Tea making facilities are present in the room with ample tea, coffee, milk etc etc. The accommodation was cleaned daily to a very high standard, clean towels were also supplied every day.

Breakfast was a treat, you can choose a time convenient to yourself and the tables once again were nicely presented and clean. Good choice of food, more than enough and all of it excellent ! For evening meals if you want to stay local and not drive/ride, the local inn literally 200yds up the road does excellent food / ales / wine.

Location wise the Guest House is situated in a good area. It's an easy find coming from the M6 (North or South). To tour the area in general you can either use the local "A" roads, to get you quickly to the area you wish to explore or, if going to the local lakes, ( Windermere / Coniston ) find the B5284 out of Kendal, this scenic little road takes you almost direct to the Windermere chain ferry at Bowness, great way to get to the more Western Lakes.

Best trip during our stay, No question about it, Wrynose Pass and Hardnott Pass, awesome! Two up on a Harley Heritage Classic, great fun and very do-able. Great days adventure from "The Glen" just far enough so you feel like you've had a ride. Do pick a dry day with a high cloud base though, the views are unmissable.

Would I stay here again, yes, without a moments hesitation.

Stayed for one night, Alan apologised that our room was fairly small, we didn't think it bad although perhaps an issue for a longer stay.

We were made most welcome. The toiletries etc. in the room were more than expected. Beds comfortable, shower room more than adequate.

DVD's available to guests - all rooms have TV/DVD players. Wifi password on room info sheet.

Good pub about 100 yards away which served a very varied menu. Not fast food, cooked to order.

Breakfast was delicious. We ordered the night before advising what time we'd like breakfast - works perfectly.

Highly recommend this guest house.
