Stayed here for two nights the hotel it's self is lovely with amazing views. Only a short walk away from the town Centre, accommodation was clean with standard hotel decor. Keep up the good work! The only down side was gym witch was very busy at peck times but that can't be helped

Thank you for your review. As you experienced during your stay the Leisure Club is very popular. There are however periods of the day when it is much quieter and the Leisure Club team would be delighted to share this information.

Stayed here with a large group, a choir. The staff coped well and were very friendly and helpful.

The accommodation was clean and standard hotel furnishings.

We ate at the pub in the grounds where the food was well prepared and plentiful

We really enjoyed looking after your choir group and the spontaneous song for the bride to be in the hotel lounge was a lovely touch on Saturday morning! We would be delighted to welcome you back to the hotel again next year.

We have stayed at this Hotel before and if anything ,it was even better than last time. I'm not sure if it has been refurbished, but it seemed much fresher somehow than we remembered it.
We were attending a Convention as last time, and were very impressed with the friendliness and efficiency of the reception staff. Our room, ( twin bedded ), was delightful, with beautiful over the gardens to Kendal and the hills beyond, tea, coffee and biscuits on the tray, lots of information about places to see, and an excellent en suite, with one of the most powerful showers I've ever experienced, ( lovely ). The beds were comfortable , the pillows may have had more choice of softness, but no complaints whatever about the cleanliness. We received an early morning call and our newspapers each morning as requested, and nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
Our breakfasts were superb, with plenty of choice, and with only one exception, the staff were invariably friendly and efficient. I will not point the finger here, but I did overhear similar comments.
The food overall was excellent, the whole experience likewise, the drinks were expensive, but as expected in a hotel of this calibre.
All in all a lovely stay which I would happily recommend.

Room Tip: We had a lovely twin bedded room, at the end of the corridor, up a short flight of stairs. The room overlooked the gardens with views of Kendal and the hills beyond.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We have invested heavily in the hotel since your last visit in 2011 and it is therefore fantastic to see that this is apparent! It was a pleasure to look after your group over the weekend and we hope to see you again soon.

Stayed here for 2 nights - valentines weekend. The hotel itself is situated just outside of the town centre and has the most amazing views. We were booked into a room in the newer side of the hotel, quite a long walk and had the back view of some woods. My partner spoke to the receptions and upgraded to another room with a balcony.....gorgeous views and happier me!!!! We didn't bring our swimwear or gym gear so cannot comment on the facilities there. Anyway, booked in for a 5 course meal on the saturday.....food was out of this world. Gorgeous, I'm a veggie and had no problems with the selection on offer. Went into the bar for drinks and had a few but cant understand how bar staff cannot (or maybe will not) make a coctail up for you, other than a baileys, tiamaria and cream!!!!!!!! concotion...not for me. we had room service twice, both good food and good wine. The breakfast was delicious and a great choice on offer ( I MUST STATE THAT THE CHEF DESERVES HIS OWN 5 STAR FOR THE FOOD) Staff at the hotel were really good and responded to any need you had asap. The short trip into town was well worth it too, lovely shops, cafes, restaurants etc and lovely walks in the countryside. All in all, lovely room, good staff, wonderful location and we will certainly be back.

Room Tip: Try a balcony room...beautiful views

Thank you for sharing your Valentines experience.

The Greenhouse Restaurant does have its own Trip Advisor review page and the kitchen team are always pleased to have nice things written about the food they produce. A 5* review would be very much appreciated I am sure!!

Breaking our journey after work in Edinburgh we decided to try Kendal which we knew 30 years ago as a lovely country town. It seems to have been wrecked by its traffic scheme. Nonetheless we decided to try the Castle Green Hotel.
Friendly welcome, great Sunday night deal for dinner b & b, good room and unexpectedly high quality dinner cooked with skill and flair.
Thoroughly recommended.

We do have many guests who stay with us to break up the journey when heading north or south. We are ideally located just a few miles from junction 37 of the M6. If you leave the motorway at this junction you do not need to navigate the one way system in the middle of Kendal. We are in an elevated position (on the right) as you drop down the hill into the town.

Our ‘Sunday Spice’ rate is very popular as it includes a dinner allowance of £56, bed and breakfast for two for only £120, highly recommended!

We hope that you will not leave it another 30 years before returning!
