We are from India and were celebrating our 10th wedding aniversary. Wanted to make it a memorable one and Hotel castle green made it happen.
We are very impressed and thankful to the staff of the hotel for being very helpful and cordial.
As the name suggest this hotel has a lush green compound. We checked in a family room. I can gurantee that this room scores 10 in all parameters.
a) Large size room with two double bed
b) Very good furnishing and ambience. Curtain ,sofa ,tv and the color combination was just awesome.
c) The beds were very soft and comfortable.
d) Very good size bathroom with a good size bath tub and impecably clean.
e) very good view.
We all had a very very relaxing and enjoyable stay in this hotel. My daughter didn't want to return. We will surely want to come again and will like to recomend every one to experience a 5 star stay in this wonderful hotel.

Thank you for recommending others to come and experience what we offer here at Castle Green. We do only have a limited number of family rooms so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

We spent four nights at the Castle Green Hotel and I cannot speak too highly of the hotel. The location of the hotel is very convenient for both Kendal and the South Lakes. The staff are a credit to the hotel and nothing was too much trouble for anyone. They were all very pleasant and polite and took pride in their work. The hotel itself is fantastic with lovely views over Kendal and the area. It has excellent facilities and the meals were superb on every occasion. The rooms are very well decorated and we were provided with all of the facilities that we needed in the room. I would have no hesitation in returning to the hotel and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

Anyone who has given this Hotel a bad review needs to have a serious word with themselves. This is by far one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Every member of staff was friendly and efficient - nothing was too much trouble. My elderly mother has some mobility problems and we got a parking space right outside reception, which is clearly sign posted (contrary to what other reviews have said), Our room didn't have a view and was a little but dark but that hardly matters when you are in your bed sleeping. The room and bathroom were meticulously clean and all supplies of shampoo etc were first class. Lovely huge fluffy towels after a great shower. My young daughter and I used the pool which was great too. We ate in Alexanders - the pub which is attached the the hotel, it was first class, beautiful food and tip top service. But make sure you book as we did as it's busy and quite small. So all you moaning folk who don't like it here, wise up and ask yourself what would make you happy. Would definitely stay here again.

I suppose Kendal is not really Lakeland but it is on the edge and convenient to reach most parts by car or public transport.
Castle Green is on the A684, the main road to/from Sedburgh. It is a smart hotel with attractive entrance, pleasant lounge area and adjacent restaurant. Reception was pleasant and welcoming.
Our room was quite well appointed as far as the small size permitted. It had a very comfortable double bed, chest of drawers, small built-in wardrobe desk but just one armchair and one upright chair. More would not have fitted in. The tea and coffee selection was very good, complete not just with a tea pot but also a cafetière that I had never seen before in a guest room. There was a small balcony with two chairs and splendid views over the mountains. The bathroom was also quite small but had a very smart and efficient shower. Thick towels and bathrobes were provided. Room servicing standard during a 3-night stay was excellent.
The hotel had three eating possibilities: Greenhouse restaurant, Lounge bar snacks and Andersons pub. We chose the latter and got very nice meals, served by friendly and obliging ladies each night.
Breakfast was fine as far as we were concerned as we don't care for fry ups. There was a fine buffet selection. The fresh breads available were fabulous with locally sourced preserves to go with it. I also had porridge every day.
There is a well appointed gym that we did not quite get round to using. Looked impressive though. Gardens in June were a delight with neat flower beds and groomed lawns. Free WiFi was fine for normal usage.

Room Tip: There is a variety of room sizes but if you want views of the fells, you should ask for an odd-numbered room. Our room had a small balcony but it reduced the size of the room thereby.

Thank you for posting such a comprehensive review!

What some rooms lack in space we aim to make up for with quality products such as luxury Egyptian cotton linen, quality tea/coffee, fantastic shower. The balcony rooms are very popular and it is little wonder with such fabulous views to enjoy from the private outside seating!

This hotel is in a beautiful setting with incredible views. The facilities are very good. Our room was clean and well set out, but unfortunately the view out of the window was into grass and bushes about two feet away! Although the sun was shining, it was necessary to have all the lights on because the room was so dark. Dinner in the restaurant was very good with a reasonable choice of menu. Overall, this hotel was good value for money - providing a room is allocated where day light prevails in day light hours.
