We arrived in Kendal after a long scorching journey on the M6. This place was a delightful recommendation by our B&B host. Off the main street you emerge onto a cascading lawn, and can take your pick of which level to sit and enjoy the garden views from. We stayed for dinner and the service and food were scrumptious. Were it not for our 7 month old baby, we may have even taken in a movie, as the cinema is right beside the restaurant.

Set back from the main road, this is a interesting little place in beautiful stone buildings. We came here for the food, exhausted from a long day. I had a couple of tapas dishes which were tasty and a bit different - the polenta and salad was crunchy and refreshing. The staff were a bit shy, but polite and friendly and didn't mind me being too tired to order properly!! Seems like a great community hub - and some great beers and cider on offer.

We visited Sunday 27th July for the outdoor concert. Bought drinks from the bar and found a good table outdoors. Foodwise we just needed a snack and decided to buy cheese burgers from the 'Street Food' stall. However, they were not cooked enough and the middle of the burgers were still raw. Would have expected the cheese slices to melt over the burgers rather than stay intact. We were very disappointed as it could have been so good. We didn't stay to see the concert!

Many thanks for taking the time to post your review. We do try and cook burgers in the recommended way to ensure they are not dry - this can mean they are pink in the middle, but we are always open to requests to cook them a little more if desired. Your review comments will be taken on board and reported back to the kitchen.

We had booked to see Difford & Tilbrook (ex Squeeze), great acoustic set, smallish intimate venue. We were recommended to try their pizza's so we did to save trying to find somewhere else to eat and it was worth it, they were as good a restaurant quality. I would recommend pre booking shows as it's only a small venue as I say, there is also a cinema on site, although we didn't use it ourselves.

I do love independent cinemas and this does it do well. Soon as you walk in your greeted by an interesting architectural design that gives the place a real character. There's a delightful bar there with nice clientele in tow (no football shirt wearing riff raff). All in all a very pleasant evening.
