I was searching for a B&B located close to either Kendal or Windermere and came across this gem. I booked the weekend for my boyfriend and I for a romantic weekend. You couldnt ask for a better hostess as Sue and location as West Barn.
Sue is fun, warm and friendly person. We felt at home from the very moment we arrived. Great breakfast variety; in particular the choice of local produce and all organic. Everything was fresh. The room was quaint; tidy and clean. The smell of daffodils filled the room. Everything was to a high standard and the barn itself is set in a beautiful location.
Sue adviced us on where to go and booked us a table at the local pub down the road from the B&B for our first night dinner.
All in all our experience at the B&B and the Lakes was great; would definately come back and stay there again. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for quiet, relaxed, idylic and romantic place to visit this B&B. Its not too far away from Kendal or Windermere and easy to get to.

Having stayed over the years at a lot of hotels & inns in the south lakes we decided to stay here as a change and what a great change it was!! Luxury linen, great bathroom products, fresh baked biscuits on the tea tray yum! yum! Sue the proprietor was a dream, so friendly, relaxed & easy going. We loved all the eco friendly touches without losing any comfort and by do the free range hens in her garden lay delicious eggs for breakfast. Speaking of breakfast it was a real treat especially the homemade bread & jams. Would DEFINATELY STAY AGAIN.

Room Tip: I am sure all rooms are fab as you the greatest care has taken to make the whole experience great.

Mum, her neighbour, my husband and I decided to stay here to celebrate Mum,s big birthday. We were not disappointed. Three nights in a warm, clean, rural setting with fantastic breakfasts. What more could you ask for? Easy access into Kendal and the Lakes. Would like to return.

Have now stayed here twice. Sue is a warm friendly host who finds the balance of being available to help you throughout your stay whilst giving you the space and time to relax.

Renovated and refurbished to an extremely high standard, the rooms are comfortable and homely.

I highly recommend as a place to stay.

Room Tip: The upstairs room has a better view and has a bath but the downstairs room has more space

We unfortunately only stayed one night in this lovely B&B, would love to stay longer (note for our next trip to the Lakes!) but were made to feel really welcome by Sue. The bedrooms are private, which was really welcome, it can sometimes feel like you're intruding in some B&B's where it's the hosts home, but the bedrooms are nicely segregated. We stayed in the upstairs room, which has gorgeous views as well as being equally beautiful inside. Home made cake and biscuits (my partner polished off without much effort) and a lovely bathroom with roll top bath.
The stay was topped off by an amazing breakfast (after the standard countryside Rooster morning call)!! Fresh fruit, yogurt, lovely jams and bread, organic cereals and a superb cooked breakfast.
I can easily say this is the best value for money B&B we have stayed in (we've been to a few on our travels), I would say too good but we want to visit again so please don't put the prices up too much :D
Thank-you for a lovely stay and for opening your gorgeous home up to very grateful travellers!
Amy & Ross x

Room Tip: Pick the upstairs room if possible for the lovely views.
