“A beautiful, cosy, country B&B. Just... Perfect!”

I would highly recommend West Barn B&B, John & I both had an amazing time, It was my first time visiting the Lakes and I couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Upon arrival at West Barn we met the sheep and lambs in the field and went to collect the eggs which we had for breakfast the following morning. The room was cosy and homely, with freshly baked cake on arrival and in the morning we opened our curtains to the view of the cows in the field. Breakfast contained beautifully cooked sausages and bacon from local farmers along with homemade bread and jam. Sue was so friendly and welcoming and even helped us look for local events for that that day. Our whole experience at the Lake District this weekend was perfect. We're both looking forward to seeing updates of the lambs until we visit again.

Such a lovely friendly welcome by Sue. We only stayed one night but wish it had been longer and would certainly stay again and thoroughly recommend it . There is not one thing which could be changed to improve this wonderful place.

We stayed at West Barn for two nights in February 2014. I would give it the highest possible recommendation. The owner, Sue, has done a fantastic job of making the rooms very comfortable and luxurious. The bed was very large and comfortable and everything you need has been made available. Sue is very enthusiastic about locally sourced food and she knows the sources of everything she serves. We booked evening meals as well as breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed everything she served especially the Rack of Lamb which was cooked to perfection. Sue is extremely friendly and welcoming, so we also enjoyed her intelligent conversation and company. I have no hesitation in recommending West Barn, excellent value for money.

Room Tip: A little off the beaten track in a very quiet rural location.

Very friendly welcome at Westbarn. The downstairs room was a good size and the bed was one of the best I have ever slept in! Nice touches such as the milt in a mini flask, home made flapjack and a slice of cake on arrival! Very quiet location down a steep road within 10 minutes walk to the punch bowl pub. Superb breakfast too! Would certainly stay again.

I was searching for a B&B located close to either Kendal or Windermere and came across this gem. I booked the weekend for my boyfriend and I for a romantic weekend. You couldnt ask for a better hostess as Sue and location as West Barn.
Sue is fun, warm and friendly person. We felt at home from the very moment we arrived. Great breakfast variety; in particular the choice of local produce and all organic. Everything was fresh. The room was quaint; tidy and clean. The smell of daffodils filled the room. Everything was to a high standard and the barn itself is set in a beautiful location.
Sue adviced us on where to go and booked us a table at the local pub down the road from the B&B for our first night dinner.
All in all our experience at the B&B and the Lakes was great; would definately come back and stay there again. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for quiet, relaxed, idylic and romantic place to visit this B&B. Its not too far away from Kendal or Windermere and easy to get to.

Having stayed over the years at a lot of hotels & inns in the south lakes we decided to stay here as a change and what a great change it was!! Luxury linen, great bathroom products, fresh baked biscuits on the tea tray yum! yum! Sue the proprietor was a dream, so friendly, relaxed & easy going. We loved all the eco friendly touches without losing any comfort and by do the free range hens in her garden lay delicious eggs for breakfast. Speaking of breakfast it was a real treat especially the homemade bread & jams. Would DEFINATELY STAY AGAIN.

Room Tip: I am sure all rooms are fab as you the greatest care has taken to make the whole experience great.

Mum, her neighbour, my husband and I decided to stay here to celebrate Mum,s big birthday. We were not disappointed. Three nights in a warm, clean, rural setting with fantastic breakfasts. What more could you ask for? Easy access into Kendal and the Lakes. Would like to return.
