Ate here with my husband after hearing rave reviews.
Ordered the sharing nachos to start. They were all very much 'the bottom of the bag' nachos, more like crumbs rather than large nachos. Needed more melted cheese. I make better nachos and dips myself at home! It's not difficult and you don't need to be a chef to do it !
For a main course I had lamb pie with veg and new potatoes. The pie was ok, meat quite tender and a nice puff pastry crust. The gravey was too ' gloopy'. The new potatoes weren't new. They were large white potatoes cut into quarters.
My husband had fish with chilli dressing, 'new' potatoes and salad.
The food overall was average. For one starter and 2 mains and 2 pints of beer the bill was £35.
The place was quite busy for a Thursday night in mid October. A couple on the adjacent table sent both their meals back. We ate all ours but won't be going back.

Myself and partner went here on a early sat for a evening meal, we was shown to a table and the young girl said she would be over shortly to take our food order, however we ended up waiting 30 mins, another table informed us that they are very slow and we can order at the bar, if we known that we wouldn't of sat waiting for over 30 mins, we then had to ask to have our order taken.

When the food came we was most impressed, I had the stuffed chicken breast and my partner had the Cumberland casserole and they both tasted great! Very good portions and you could tell it was freshly cooked, would recommend this place to anyone, they just need to improve on their waitress service.

Went here on a late sunday afternoon for lunch arrived and was shown to a table the time we waited to be served was a little long as they didnt appear to be to busy how ever a nice enviroment did make the wait a little easier as we were being served i found the waitress a little cold in her service (mabey a bad day ) the food did arrive swiftly and was out of this world i had the chicken and bacon salad with cheese instead of bacon and it was fantastic with the presentation fantastic my partner had the cheese and leek pie and she was happy with it and said it was really good to be honest it did look good but the main thing was the onion rings completly out of this world so moist yet crispy and all in all a fantastic expeeince and resonable prices will return

Ate here for probably the last time, ordered nearly £60 of food which was 3 meals, one being £23 which we were going to share between 4 of us. They refused us an extra plate and left only 3 serviettes and cutlery. They begrudgingly gave us another set, which had to be checked with the boss to see if he would allow it. Felt watched by the boss and staff, totally uncomfortable atmosphere, won't be on our list of dining places now? Why when spending nearly £60, can't the food be eaten in whatever way we wish???
Avoid if you plan to share....

We booked an overnight stop at the Punchbowl recently and what a delight it turned out to be; the staff were welcoming, friendly and eager to help; our room, although quite small was beautifully decorated and very comfortable and the ensuite bathroom was so stylish. We enjoyed a superb meal, using local produce; there was a good selection of reasonably priced wines and ales; the service was excellent. After a very comfortable night, we were served one of the best breakfasts we've ever had - including local bacon and sausages, delicious home-made preserves, fresh fruit, etc.
