A wetherpoons is often a saving grace in a town, and the Miles Thompson is no exception. Some of the pubs in the centre were a bit cold, unwelcoming and bleak, but this was warm and inviting. Granted the food is the same menu wherever you go, but it is good value and accompanied by real ale on top form. The building itself used to be the old swimming baths and laundry, so it is an interesting venue with much of the original architecture kept.

Me and my partner had to leave our meals because a member of staff called Sam. Decided to sweep up by our table where the dust from the carpet came on to our food. When we asked for a replacement of food she became very abusive. When the manager came to see us he said that Sam was only doing her job. And no to a replacement meal. We will not be going to the miles Thompson ever again. Shame on you. Also, letting children and there drunken parents into your outlet has ruined the atmosphere. Where people can't relax and enjoy there meal in peace and quiet. Where did you go wrong .

As a relative local I have to say I have been to the Wetherspoons Miles Thompson several times over the last few years and have as a general rule always found it to be an "alright" place to eat, I would have given it a three star review had it not been for my most recent visit.

My recent visit was the first time I've been to wetherspoons in the last 6/8 months and I am sad to say I left feeling insulted and appalled by my trip I attended as part of a group, I ordered a large mixed grill and a dessert as did one of my colleagues, we waited upwards of 40 minutes for the food to arrive the food was no where near its best. The three of us that ordered dessert then had to wait upwards of 45 mins before dessert arrived one of my colleagues had got up to go and ask about why it was taking so long when it arrived, as the young male staff member (whose name I did not get) placed my dessert on the table he looked and said nothing other than "you've already had a large mixed grill" the immediate look on his face appeared to be shock as was the look on mine, he then very quickly walked away, I was gob smacked and left wondering what was meant by that, i wouldn't mind effectively being called fat if i was a 20+ stone obese bloke. I have since wrote to wetherspoons about this and have not received a reply, I have NEVER written a letter of complaint before in my entire life but felt I couldn't let that slip by without informing some form of management

Have to say very disappointed by this trip and won't be going again, the only reason I am giving two stars is based on previous experiences that have been more positive
