A wetherpoons is often a saving grace in a town, and the Miles Thompson is no exception. Some of the pubs in the centre were a bit cold, unwelcoming and bleak, but this was warm and inviting. Granted the food is the same menu wherever you go, but it is good value and accompanied by real ale on top form. The building itself used to be the old swimming baths and laundry, so it is an interesting venue with much of the original architecture kept.
