“Good stay over all”
Reviewed 6 July 2012

We stayed for 2 nights at the beginning of July. The hotel is in the town centre so I was really pleased that they have a free guests' carpark under the hotel.
Nice big room with great river view. Generally very clean. The top of the wardrobe is ideal for storing suitcases so a quick dust would be nice.
Restaurant staff were excellent and very friendly. I suspect someone had phoned in sick on the Thursday evening but the Assistant Manageress dealt with the situation well and smiled throughout! Also the young girl who was helping her was clearly very new but was also friendly and helpful. One thing I would say is that the American waiter did not deserve the ignorant, rude comments from one of your Scottish guests on Thursday morning. That was totally uncalled for.
A couple of negatives. One of the receptionists was less than helpful when my wife asked for more milk for our room and when I called reception to query if the internet was working as I couldn't connect I was advised to try to connect in the bar area.
Why is the heated towel rail permanently on? Even when the room keycard is removed ( which switches off the electric) the rail is on. Makes the bathroom like a sauna.

More positives than negatives and we will visit again.

Room Tip: River view rooms have either a balcony or bay window which is directly above the water. Nice place t...

Thanks so much for your great review! We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Free parking in a busy town centre is always a plus. Our staff are extremely hard working and we appreciate your kind words in that regard. We look forward to seeing you in the future.

My now husband stayed here the night before our wedding in the bridal suite. Housekeeping arrived at 3pm & entered the room without even knocking! On realising he was still in there they scurried out & knocked. Absolute appauling service especially with it being the bridal suite.
On arrival to the hotel myself the evening of the wedding we just wanted to crash, but on waking the next morning & looking around the suite I was thoroughly disgusted with the room. They had patched up some plaster across the main window wall & not even smoothed this off, there was paint flaking all over the place & the 4 poster bed was held together with angle brackets & looked absolutely hideous. The bed itself wasn't all that comfortable & had an extremely thin mattress. It was also supposed to be silver but the dust collation on it make it look more like a brass finish. FILTHY. The service in the bar was dire, no staff around - hubby had to wait nearly 15 minutes before someone came to serve him. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone to stay there....especially not the bridal suite...this is the highest class room in the building so I dread to think what other rooms were like.

We spent four nights at this hotel, the staff were friendly always someone on hand if you needed them. The room was clean beds comfy and plenty of room. The breakfast was average and plenty of it. The location is very close to Windermere and a tourist attractions.

Room Tip: We had a room on the first floor overlooking the river a good view and a sunny room.

I cant thank the staff at this hotel enough, after setting out on a bike trip through to Scotland on one of the wettest weekends of the year we had no alternative but to stop 90 miles into our journey and landed on the Riverside Hotel. Like drowned rats we arrived all our luggage and belongings wet to the core. Big thanks to the reception staff who dried out our clothes and hung the bike gear in their boiler room without this I think we woudl have turned back home the following day cutting our honeymoon short! The room was clean tidy and spacious. Couldnt fault although a little bit on the pricey side but suppose this is to be expected for a walk in.
Thanks Kadie & Dave

Thank you for this great review of our hotel. You arrived with us on a particularly wet day, so we were more than happy to be able to offer you a warm room in which you could dry out and relax in before continuing on your honeymoon. We are glad that we were able to be a part of your special holiday, and hope that you return to stay with us again in the future!

This is a short review based on my stay, at the hotel, in the past week.
On our arrival, there was nobody forthcoming with information regarding the location of the lift etc. or there was no help with luggage. We had to locate the lift ourselves.
The bedroom was very clean and clothing updated, daily.
Gym facilities were good. However, I was not impressed to see the swimming pool being displayed on a widescreen TV, at the reception desk..
The quality of evening meals was poor. The evening-menu offered very little choice and the quality of breakfasts were just about average.
No entertainment, any night, in the bar.

Thank you for reviewing our hotel. We are pleased to hear that you were happy with your room, and we hope that you enjoyed the lovely views that they provide across the river.
Having travelled as part of a coach trip, porterage, food and entertainment specifications are generally handled by the organisers. We are happy to offer any of these services and happy to accept any special requests, but unfortunately these were never made by the organisers of your trip. Had any of these issues been brought up with reception by individual guests, we would have gladly helped.

A central hotel that has car parking facilities. The reception is attractive and the CCTV images of the pool is warm and inviting. The bar area is clean and inviting. The rooms are clean but dispute a modern flat screen they are dated with the bathroom again dated although as I have said very clean. What lets the hotel down is the quality of the restaurant. The evening meal offered little choice and the food was on the low quality side. Breakfast offered more cheap quality produce.

Thank you for reviewing our hotel. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and we appreciate your four star rating. We are surprised by your comments about our food however, as all produce is sourced locally and is of the best quality. We hope that you come and stay with us in the future, to allow us to show you the wide selection of dishes that we offer.

I would like to say that we have just returned from an excellent three day break at the Riverside. Cannot fault anything at all.The room we stayed in was a great size, and was spotlessly clean, the bathroom was really modern bright and clean. Service, rooms, staff and fab breakfast all made the stay so good. The facilities were great, we used the pool and spa which were free to guests, we didn't even have to take towels they were provided by the hotel, changing rooms even had hairdryers and straightners for guests to use, the pool was lovely and warm and the jacuzzi was so good its a must for anyone visiting the hotel.
