“The Best B & B in Kendal”
Reviewed 25 March 2013

A really welcoming bed and breakfast, and from our experience the best in Kendal. We stayed for one night a few weeks ago while watching a play at the Brewery Arts Centre and we were so glad we booked The School House. The hosts were so kind, making us feel thoroughly at home and offering us a larger room than we had booked, which was very clean and beautifully furnished and decorated. The ensuite bathroom was very spacious and felt like it belonged in a spa! The room even had a small dining table too, which was perfect for eating breakfast at, which was delivered to the room. The breakfast was wonderful: a delicious vegetarian breakfast with cereal, yoghurt and anything else you could want. The location was also excellent, very handy for the town centre and the theatre. I can't recommend this bed and breakfast enough, if we stay in Kendal again, we will definitely be returning.

Friendly service, called before we arrived for a snow report and they were very helpful before we had even arrived.
Good room, we were lucky to get a family room as a twin and it was perfect. Had everything you need. Was perfectly quiet at night and ideal for a short break.
Great menu for breakfast.
Will definitely go back if I stay in Kendal, no reason to go elsewhere!

An absolutely fantastic B&B, the hosts were exceptionally friendly and inviting and the house is situated in a great location, only minutes away from town but distant enough to be completely quiet and peaceful. The room was immaculate and beautifully decorated, with an excellent modern bathroom, and the choice and quality of the breakfasts was superb. The Kendal mint cake and shortbread provided alongside the tea and coffee was also a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend to anyone and will certainly be returning!

For my wife to tell me "you have found a gem here" is like winning a gold medal, and if I say so myself she's not wrong. The School house is spotlessly clean, the young couple who are your hosts are friendly, welcoming and keen to make sure everything is just right. The bedroom was warm and inviting, really good shower room (plenty of room for a big bloke), towels that caressed your skin, dressing gowns and an oh so comfortable bed, big enough for me to spread out with upsetting wife.
A bonus is the off street parking which in a tourist town like Kedal is a god send.
Breakfast served in the room was class, set us up for the day, arrived happy left with two new friends on Christmas card list, thank you Dave & Heidi cannot wait to find an excuse to come back.

Room Tip: The only tip is do not expect your sat nav to take you to front door, number 1 Castle Street is in...

Friendly welcome, convenient location and a nice clean, well appointed room. Excellent breakfast (served in room), with an extensive range of options. Lovely hot power shower. All in all an excellent B&B. Would definitely recommend!

Great location, beautiful, spotless room and a very friendly, informative hostess. We wanted to treat ourselves to a romantic weekend away before our baby is born and this was a great choice. We were very kindly supplied with soya milk upon request and given flexibility with our leaving time. Highly recommended!

I stayed at School House last summer with my family and we had such a lovely time that it was a no-brainer to stay here again when I was in Kendal for a business trip. Everything was just as I remembered it - a lovely room, fantastic breakfast and a really nice welcome from Heidi and Dave. I was so impressed that they remembered me from the summer and asked after the family - a real sign of how much they care for their guests. Once again I couldn't recommend it more!
