The 2 sisters café is situated just off the main road from M6 junction 36 to Windermere, tucked away in Plumgarth which has a farm shop and gift shop as well. It has ample free parking which is quite a bonus for the Lake District. The café is, not surprisingly, run by two sisters who produce some excellent food. It is all home cooked with fresh ingredients and many of the items such as the quiches and soups are changed daily. It is not a large café so can get quite full at times. When we visited it was a warm sunny day so we sat at the outside tables. The only drawback is that these tables are on the edge of the car park but other than that the whole experience was delightful. I can heartily recommend the chilli chicken and beans. Portions were substantial so we didn’t have room for a dessert. This was our second visit and we shall return, it is so convenient if you are visiting The South Lakes or Kendal

The service off the 2 ladies is excellent. The choice is very good considering how small this place is..the coffee is perfect and the apple pie although it doesn't look anything special............is devine. Table are well layed out and there is seating outside when the sun is shining. My 2 year old loves the sausages on the cooked breakfast that we ask for a few more which the ladies charge a minimal amount

We found this place by accident and were very pleased with it. The food was delicious I had quiche and salad, the quiche is probably the best I've ever had. The cakes were good too although no room for me! The service was good and reasonably priced. The farm shop next door is excellent and can thoroughly recommend the pork and black pudding sausages.
An ideal cafe for lunch. Thank you

'The 2 sisters cafe' is a great place to dine in Kendal. It offers delicious food and very cheerful and friendly hosts.
We stopped there on 2 occasions and the quality of the food was excellent - the best full English breakfast we have ever had. It was very early in the morning so no problems with getting a seat. They also serve lunch and have a huge selection of homemade cakes for those with sweet tooth :) We bought some cakes for take away and they were very fresh and extremely tasty!
Once you have had your meal/drink you can go into the farm shop next door.
We will definitely return during our next trip to Lake District. 'The 2 sisters cafe' is well worth the visit!

Lovely location with seating outdoors if the weather is nice. We walked to it from a footpath starting near Kendal Green so ready for breakfast when we arrived. The quality of the food was excellent and the portions just right. My only very small niggle (sorry) was that the green tea was a standard tea-bag. There is wonderful, local, loose tea available so please support local businesses.
