“Quirky Chocolate Heaven”
Reviewed 28 January 2013 via mobile

We stopped off here after reading the reviews on tripadvisor while looking for somewhere to stop when passing through Kendal.

What a lovely place!! Quirky tea room with a very homely feel about it. We got soup and a roll for £4.99 which was yummy!! Best pea & ham I've ever had. I also had an orange flavored hot chocolate which it highly recommended.

Unfortunately we didn't try any of the delicious looking cakes as we still had a 2 hour drive ahead...but they sounded lush!!

Through the back of the tea room you can access the chocolate shop below - Aladdin's cave of chocolate heaven!! Spent at least 20 minutes going 'ooh' and 'wow'...however at £8.75 for 8 individual chocolates we felt the price too high to try any :(

“Lovely place to lunch”
Reviewed 21 January 2013

Stopped here for lunch. The tea rooms are charming and cozy and the staff are very friendly and accomodating.
The menu is small but the quality is very good and the choice and portion size of the cakes on offer is amazing.
Not particually child friendly due to the nature of this old building but they do make the kids welcome and strive to ensure you are all catered for. All in all this is a lovely place to lunch or have afternoon tea. The chocolate shop is full of lovely goodies too!

“Naughty but nice”
Reviewed 18 December 2012

Lovely especially for afternoon tea when you can over indulge with different sorts of yummy cakes. You can also buy lovely chocolates for yourself or as a present.

“nice way to over indulge”
Reviewed 5 December 2012

After going mad in the chocolate shop, my wifes diabetic and they do a good range of sugar free chocs, and I wanted to get some chocolate flavoured coffee. We decided to try the cafe, we were only going to have a cuppa but were tempted by the ploughmans lunch, then tempted by the cakes so much so I ended up buying 6 assorted t take back to the cottage. We will be returning in march

“quaint building”
Reviewed 15 October 2012

we were attracted to this restaurant because the building was so quaint from the outside, it was built in 1630, we was not very hungry so we just had soup and a roll the soup was carrot, bacon, and lentil and it was stunning, the inside was cosy and interesting when we were sat at one of the few tables it slanted down as the building was so old, the staff were so friendly we felt very comfortable, we liked it so much we went again next day, if anytime your visiting kendal i strongly urge a visit, they have a shop downstairs selling chocolate similar to slatterys but cheaper brilliant place
