We were meeting friends in the wine bar as advertised as offering good wine, craft beers and ales. I was served not one, but two cloudy ales, which when I asked to have replaced was horrified at the reaction from the male behind the bar. He tried to argue that first the ale wasn't cloudy, then that because it was a mid coloured ale you shouldn't be able to see through it. After 10 minutes of woeful customer service I finally got the one clear ale available (he poured some from another pump which was also hazy at best). I would be very surprised to see the pub pass a CAMRA inspection if this is the offering.
Our group of eight left after this one round and will not return.

We are so sorry that you feel you did not have a good visit to our premises. We are particularly keen to offer good customer service with quality food and drink. It would be helpful if you could let us know which date you visited and the time so we can address your issue . Again, please accept our apology.

We were looking around Kendal mainly for shopping. It was about lunchtime so we looked for somewhere to eat. There was not a big choice (KFC, Mcdonalds, the usual). So we decided to look offthe beaten track down one of the alleyways. We came across this gem.Excellent food, service and great value for money.Next time we come to Kendal we will be heading straight here.

Thank David

Really enjoyed the atmosphere and always old friends to meet up with. Slightly expensive, but good range of beers and wines.
Watch you don't drink excessively and fall into the busy road outside. Excellent food in the downstairs dining area... worth a visit.

Went in last night with a group of friends for a couple of rounds, we were told that two of the three bottle coolers were not working and therefore we had the option of ambient drinks which with the hot weather was poor, it was only after chatting to the staff that we found out the fridges hadn't been working for some time, the chaps were offered cold bottle 'wheat' beer from the only fridge working which were at a silly price so ended up with half a draught lager and the girls had warm wine ! We didn't have a second round. This place has has lost its way and needs to be freshened up before it loses all it's clientele starting with cool drinks... Again it ain't brain surgery
