“Lakes, or not, this is idyllic escapism!”
Reviewed 21 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

This is a great property. Well maintained and presented on a winding lane not far from Kendal, but far enough to feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. Although on a road, I counted 3 cars passing in 2 days....and about 6 horses, its really very quiet. 2 bedrooms, a master and twin room, all with TV's and a great shower over the bath. Plenty of parking space and a long garden great for BBQ's and stoking the log burner late into the night watching those incredible stars!. Lots of sun exposure in the garden and fields front and back. If you're escaping the city, stay here! The house is well equipped and Catherine was very flexible and amenable, especially with the last minute nature of our request. You really feel quite at home. Sleeps 4 easily, lounge has games and great wood burner in, though you might want to rearrange the furniture a bit if 4 of you staying in for the night, easily done though. I can see this becoming a regular stay location!

“Cosy cottage in the countryside, just lovely!”
Reviewed 27 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We stayed here for 2 nights over the bank holiday weekend, it is a perfect gateway to the Lakes District if you have a car. The cottage is very cosy and there was a large outdoor area for bbq and had space for an outdoor fire too. Everything was well presented, the owner is very good to deal with, the kitchen was well equipped. The only complaints (which are minor) was that the radiators did not seem to work the first night which was fine as it wasn't cold at all, also the mattress in the main bedroom wasn't very comfortable. Highly recommended to stay here if you are after a relaxing peaceful place to stay!

Thanks for your comments. The radiator problem was because the thermostat had not been turned up. The heating came on as soon as this was done. This is the first complaint we have received about the mattress - we are replacing it as a result. We are pleased that everything else was OK and thank you for your kind comments.

I am pleased you enjoyed your stay. I have asked Trip Advisor to be clear in their description of the cottage. The cottage has a charming Victorian family bathroom with freestanding bath upstairs, and downstairs we have a WC with washbasin. I am sorry if this was not clear in the description. Thank you for your helpful comments and your kind review. This is most appreciated.
