We spent a night at the Sonata last month on our visit of the Lake District coming from France and we found this B&B very comfortable. The couple who owns it is extremely welcoming, always ready to help. The location is excellent. The breakfast was very good and we recommend thisplace to whoever is looking for a place to sleep in Kendal.

We we made very welcome. Spotless room and bathroom. Nice area, easily accessible to town centre and easy to find. Excellent choice of breakfast, all local produce, good coffee, all of which was well presented. Would not hesitate to return if in the area.

What a superb start we had to our holidays. We stayed for a night at the Sonata on our way to Scotland and this set us up in style. The accomodation was excellent and we went to a lovely Italian restaurant close by on the recommendation from the owner. The highlight was the excellent freshly cooked breakfast which my husband raved about and the selection of fruit and yougurts was super too The couple running the B7B were so helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the Lake District Thank you

Thank you for taking the time to write. We are delighted that the accommodation and breakfast were good - two things essential for a B&B! There are more great restaurants here we can recommend when you are next in Kendal. Hope to see you both again.

Best regards,
Inoka & Chris

We stayed at sonata during our Dales Way walk. It was 2 miles from the route but it was worth it. The room was comfy with a bath (bonus), everything you'd expect from a B&B. sonata is run by a friendly and helpful couple who advised us where to eat, gave us a lift back to the way in the morning and filled our flasks and drinks bottles. Very obliging. They have recently purchased the hotel and were proud of the fact that they were making gradual improvements to what was, we understand, an already good B&B. breakfast was excellent. Freshly cooked and a good selection. The best on our walk.

You may wonder why its taken so long to write a review, simple answer, didn't give it a thought. But anyway we stayed in October 2012, the owner Chris was on holiday so we were looked after by a lady called Sheila. She was very friendly & made us most welcome, the room was clean & comfortable & the breakfast was excellent. I lived in Kendal for 8 years from the age of 6 to 14 so know the place very well, was in the choir & went to scouts. After living there I've always felt I had a connection with the town & like to visit every so often. I came back on here to praise the local pub called the Oddfellows Arms as a very friendly place to drink, made you feel like a local from the start. While here I noticed the Sonata had changed hands (didn't know Chris was selling) but having read the reviews I think another visit is in order. Not sure if the prices are the same or similar but certainly like what I'm reading, besides I need to get back to the Oddfellows to see my friends, thanks for reading!

Room Tip: First floor room better if your getting older like me!

Thank you for your review which we really appreciate. Many guests find the Oddfellows, the friendliest pub ever – this and some other great new restaurants are close by too.

The Sonata has indeed changed hands, but we are still very much in touch with the old Chris and Sheila.

We love to see past guests again – we do get quite a lot of guests coming back to stay, so please give us a call when you next want to visit Kendal. We look forward to welcoming you back to Sonata.

Best Wishes,
Inoka & Chris

Stayed at the sonata when I was working in Kendal. The lady there was fantastic the room was very clean and everything I needed. Being a builder a like to start the day with a decent breakfast and I couldn't have wished for a better breakfast. Will certainly stay there again when I am back up them neck of the woods.
