Travelled as a couple for a short October break. We received a warm welcome from the hostess. She gave us a small map of the town and provided us with an entertaining rundown of places to eat and things to do. She also asked us to decide when we wanted breakfast, and which of the food options to go for. The breakfast options were varied enough to satisfy anybody. One of us had the full English and the other had a rich bowlful of porridge. Absolutely delicious and very filling!

In general there was a laid back atmosphere at the Lyndhurst Guest House. The owners were happy to chat with us and give us advice. There was no 'curfew', so no pressure to rush back at night. Our room was a decent size, homely, clean and bright. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and there were a couple of comfy chairs by the window.

From the front door it took us around 10 minutes to reach the centre of the town. It's quite a pleasant walk, with assorted shops and restaurants along the way. The castle is nearby too - with fantastic views of the surroundings. It's about a 20 minute walk along the river to reach Kendal train station. You could also get there by taxi from Oxenholme station in about 5 minutes.

We enjoyed our stay at the Lyndhurst Guest House, a comfortable place with great character. The only downside we could think of is that they don't take card payments. But as long as you keep that in mind, and remember to take your chequebook, you should have a pleasant stay here.

Room Tip: Might be worth asking for a room with the river view. We enjoyed it.

Just got back from a one night stay at this B&B and found it a very enjoyable stay. The location is very good with just a 5 minute walk to Kendal town centre. The room we stayed in was on the top floor and had a lovely view of the river. The room itself was basic but had a very comfortable king size bed in there together with a lovely power shower.
We were greeted by the owner Yvonne who is a very friendly and very chatty host and after a quick registration provided us with a map of the town centre and took us through the places to visit and the ones to avoid for good food, nightlife etc. We were given the option of what time we wanted breakfast which was fine and the breakfast itself was excellent and very nicely presented.
All in all a very brief but enjoyable stay and we would definately return again if we are in the area again.

Very clean room and large comfortable bed- we had room with river views. From description on line I had not expected to be up in the eaves but room was pleasant and quiet at night. We were a bit surprised on arrival to be asked to pick our breakfast time slot and to make our choice of food there and then. Thought breakfast might turn out to be a bit regimented but in fact it was pleasant and relaxed and well cooked and presented. We did feel that having a time slot put pressur eon us to be up at a certain time- not something we want when having a couple of relaxing days away .Easy walk into Kendal and large servings of standard pub food at nearest pub. Guest House is opposite outlet village if you have time for shopping.

The couple running the B&B were excellent. Very helpful. Homemade cakes on arrival and homemade jams and preserves at breakfast. The B&B was clean but very dated and full of too much personal "clutter" for my liking. The bedrooms were VERY small.
Breakfasts could have been a little bigger to and with breakfast time of between 7:30 and 8:30 only I found that a little early for us as we wanted to have a lie in and relax on holiday. they were catering for teh business traveller ( who would be better off in the nearby travelodge). Location was nice but overall the b&b was just OK. Some of the kids in teh neighbouring houses were also very noisy.

Lovely hosts. Stuart and Yvonne are so friendly! Yvonne is a great cook, her generously offered breads and preserves should win awards.
This is our favourite B&B and we come here every year (as long as they have space so we advise you book early!)
Beds: very comfy and rooms are spotless.
Breakfast: low-fat option for cooked breakfast is a treat without weighing you down all day.

Yvonne & Stuart are so welcoming. They are friendly and sociable. Yvonne greated us with homemade cake and we had some made preserves with breakfast. We stayed for a long weekend and were provided with a detailed map of Kendal, listing places to eat, drink & visit. Their recomendations were spot on. We recomend the rhubarb and stem ginger jam.

My Partner and I needed to escape the packing boxes (as we are in the middle of a move), we live but five minutes away. Stuart is a wonderful host and Yvonne is crazy in the nicest possible way. We could not have wished to have such a relaxing stay. As an insomniac I was amazed that I slept soundly for the first time in years. Good Luck to you both, you are doing a great job. Thank you.

P.S. I meant to get a picture of the infamous wellies by the door, but forgot. x
