Nice little place in the heart of Kendal. Nice walk to the river or to the cafes and restaurant. Close to bus stops.
Excellent location, walk out the door and you are in the Market Place, but aas the cottage is tucked away, it is very quiet. It is well equipped everything you need for a self catering holiday, we especially appreciated the small lights that tripped on as you approach ed kitchen and partner. A great idea, more rentals should adopt.
However, I do not think it would suit guests with mobility problems, as you have to go down fairly steep stairs to the Lounge/Diner; which could be tricky with a tray of hot food. There is a small area and garden outside with a small table and a love seat from which we sometimes ate our breakfast. You will have no problems with control of the Remote as Lounge has a good size telly and there are TVs in each bedroom, Parking was pretty straight forward, although just managed to get last place in the Library Car Park, but this was on a busy Friday afternoon, I don't think there would be much problem after 1600 hrs, and there are other SLDC Car Parks in Kendal. The upside was that the 3 day Pass came in useful when visiting other places in the Lake District.
All in all a very pleasant stay and could not fault the standard of accommodation.
Great location to visit Kendal and surrounding areas. The cottage is tucked away in the centre of town and has great amenities, pubs and restaurants nearby, yet is really quiet and peaceful which allows a great night’s rest.
The kitchen is well equipped and the cleanliness of the apartment was of a good standard. The house has lots of character and is decorated to a great standard. Bathroom was clean and perfect for a relaxing bath or shower.
The only downside is that if you bring a car you need to park in one of the public carparks nearby, however this wasn’t too much of a problem as you can buy 3 or 5 day tickets that allow you to park in a number of specified carparks in the south lakes district area using the same ticket for the duration of the days paid for. This actually saved us a fortune on parking in other carparks as we went out to explore the area by car, so worked out pretty well!
A great place to stay for a quiet getaway or to use as a base to explore the Lake District from the south. Lynn is also a great host and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay.
This is such a lovely little cottage to use as a base when staying in the Lake District. It's conveniently positioned at the heart of Kendal but is tucked away in its own quiet spot. The Juliet Balcony in the bedroom opens right next to the bed so you can lie on the very comfy mattress at dusk and watch the bats flying by the garden. The living room is partially underground so the window opens at a level with the grass like a hobbit home. It was lovely and cool being in this room during one of the hottest week of the year. Lynn provided very thoughtful items in the cottage, like os maps of the area, walking books, and leaflets of local amusements. We found it very well supplied when it comes to things like vinegar, salt, mustard, kitchen and loo roll, so you won't find yourself having to buy extras.
We had a lovely stay at marketplace hideaway. This is a great place to stay to explore the lakes, is fabulously quiet for such a central location and has everything you need for a few nights away. The facilities are great with beds that are comfy and a super large bath.
Condition was good but sitting room could have been cleaned much better. Outdoor near main door also could have been cleaned much better.
Rest all fine.
