We planned our trip to the lake district around a booking we made some months beforehand for the Via Ferrata Xtreme at Honister. We bought a day pass which was £55 each and included lunch with a drink, a mine tour and the Via Ferrata.
The mine tour was around 1.5 hours and whilst it was child orientated the guide Roland did a great job of keeping everyone's attention and sharing the story of Honister slate mine.
The Via Ferrata Xtreme was for 3 hours and I would recommend this wholeheartedly. The guide Steve was a good laugh and did a great job. The wire bridge was fantastic especially when Steve gave it a good shake to make it more exciting(!!) and the rock climb was so exhilarating. The views at the top are a welcome reward after the hard work!
I'd recommend take some water, we had a Camelbak which did the job perfectly. Also wear good walking shoes. If you're thinking about doing it, go for it - you won't regret it :)
