- the sun-rays, white clouds and mist highlighting different angles, shapes and hues, from moment to moment, made them look truly spectacular. That was observed by us from a bedroom window when sipping sherry left by the hosts for the guests in a carafe. And when on their advice we went for a half hour walk further up the hill, the horizon revealed even more of its beauty with Derwent Water reflecting the light of the setting sun. Ian's and Sandra's cooking and hosting skills were outstanding, the food was mouthwatering with a wide range of fruit and cereal as well as lentil + potato cakes as part of the vegetarian breakfast we asked for, and the coffee tasted gorgeous. They made us feel welcomed and at ease. It was also lovely to watch the red squirrel frolicking in the garden and little ducklings in the pond bestudded with white lilies. Thank you for what you've created to share with other people!

We had a lovely 2 night stay at Spooney Green B & B. Located on the outskirts of Keswick but close enough to walk into town and within walking distance of The Pheasant pub where we enjoyed a tasty evening meal. The hosts at the B & B were friendly and welcoming and the cooked breakfast was delicious with their home made bread, preserves, honey etc all beautifully presented. Our room and ensuite shower room was well equipped with everything we could need and had lovely views of the garden and fells beyond. We were attracted to this B & B after reading about the wildlife in the garden - we were not disappointed and really enjoyed viewing the red squirrells and woodpecker at the numerous feeders. Would not hesitate to recommend Spooney Green B & B.

What an absolute haven. We were greeted by Sandra and made to feel welcome immediately. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean with a large en suite bathroom. The views were amazing across the North Western Fells and many of the Central fells. Lots of space for clothing, a good welcome tray and a comfy bed topped it all off. We just wondered what breakfast would be like...............no need to worry there!! The food was excellent and each day the traditional English breakfast had a slight variation. There was plenty of extras to choose from too. Sandra and Ian obviously enjoy having people to stay and they are attentive to your needs without ever being obtrusive.
The garden is full of wonderful wildlife and we wish the sun would have been out more for us to sit outside and enjoy it. However, just watching the little red squirrels whilst enjoying a lovely breakfast was an absolute joy.
Sandra and Ian have a wonderful place to live and we are looking forward to our next visit. I think we'd be there every weekend if we lived closer:-)

We stayed 5 nights here and were very pleased. They are located on a small secluded lane (no public access) which is also on one of the best walking paths in the area. There is an excellent pub-restaurant a short walk away and you can walk into Keswick in 15 minutes where there are many good choices of restaurants including italian and thai. The breakfasts are simply the best we found. Fresh fruit artistically presented, fresh eggs from their own chickens, home baked bread, you get the idea. The house is old but the rooms are very modern. Sandra and her spouse have lived in the area a long time (he was the town dentist and is now on the hiking rescue team) and are very helpful. When our car broke down they picked us up at the garage and took us back later for dinner and the next day to pick up the car.

Room Tip: There are only 4 rooms. We started in a room with bath down the hall and switched to an ensuite with its own huge bathroom. Both rooms had wonderful views of the mountains and the garden.

After a long drive from Norfolk to the lakes, we were greeted at the door with warm hospitality and everything we needed for our stay. The room was a very pleasant surprise, spacious, clean, ensuite bathroom and amazing views to wake up to each morning. Breakfast was a delicious daily ritual setting us up for our long walking days, accompanied by wonderful wildlife at the patio door. Red squirrels, birds and even a rabbit hunting fox! we saw it all. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Spooney Green, with all of this beauty you would expect to pay a fortune but it is extremely reasonably priced. Thank you for having us Sandra and Ian and hope to see you again in the future.
