Low Nest Farm is located in a peaceful, tranquil setting and benefits from some of the most stunning views I have ever seen. The farm is deep enough into the countryside to provide a relaxing retreat, while at the same time, it is only about 2 miles from Keswick, so has everything you might want very close by.
We stayed in the B&B and I can’t praise it highly enough. Angela offered a very warm welcome both to my husband and me, and to our dog! She is very friendly and helpful and there is nothing she hasn’t thought of. The bedroom and en-suite was spotlessly clean and homely and equipped with TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. There was ample hanging, cupboard, shelf and drawer space in the fitted unit. The bed was made up with luxurious bedding and a pile of soft, fluffy, white towels was included. A second pile of blankets and towels was provided for the dog, as well as a basket of goodies, including a torch for night-time walks, poo bags, treats, water bottle, feeding bowl and even a collar disc with the B&B’s phone number. There was also a vast amount of local information provided in the room, from local walks, to dog-friendly places to eat.
The view from our window was spectacular and I actually couldn’t wait to get out of bed to look out of the window each morning! Breakfast was delicious and included freshly laid eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms and beans, and was served in the very quaint dining room (where free wifi is also available). As a vegetarian, I had emailed Angela prior to booking to ask about veggie options, and she provided me with veggie sausages instead of the bacon and sausages. As well as the full cooked breakfast, there was plenty of cereal, porridge, toast, orange juice and tea/coffee. Guests also have full use of a fully fitted kitchen, and a comfortable lounge.
Our dog especially liked the safe, fenced in agility area, where we could let her run around off-lead. We really enjoyed the picnic area, where we sat in an evening, drank a glass of wine, and watched sheep and wild rabbits in the fields – bliss!
This was our first holiday with our dog and we were quite apprehensive about it, but it was absolutely fabulous, and we can’t wait to go back. I highly recommend Low Nest to others, whether they are travelling with or without dogs.
