Peter and Alex provide a very warm welcome and are a great source of information on where to walk, whats on, what to see and where to eat! Rooms include ensuite facilities and are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is freshly cooked and hits the spot! Overall a perfect BnB in a very good location. In busy periods you will need to book. We will return.

This was our first stay at the Salisbury Guesthouse and a very enjoyable stay we had.
Alex and Peter were very welcoming and extremely knowledgable, that much so they helped us plan a fantastic weekend for me, my husband, and my little dog.
The quest house is extremely clean and very comfortable with all the facilities that you would need. The breakfast was fantastic and the service outstanding.
We are thoroughly looking forward to our next trip with our little boy as a family in the near future.
A very pleasant and wonderful stay.
Thank you.

Room Tip: We stayed in the suite which was a very good size, had a decent size bathroom and beautiful views...

I stayed 3 nights at this guest house on my own to meet up with friends in Keswick. I received a very friendly welcome from Peter who helped me carry my luggage upstairs to a double ensuite. There was free parking on the street and it was a 5 minute walk to the centre of town. The bedroom was extremely clean and warm and the bed was very comfortable. I found the bedroom and shower room a bit on the small side but I am used to a lot of space.
The breakfasts were delicious and well presented and nothing was too much trouble for Peter.
He has a vast knowledge of the area; local shops, restaurants etc which he happily shares with guests as well as books and maps for walking.
Despite the weather being poor most of the time I had a pleasant at the Salisbury Guest House.

Room Tip: I was in room 2. Perhaps the other rooms are a bit bigger.

Thank you for taking the time to review us but I would just like to comment on the criticism of room 2. At Salisbury House we have four rooms, all have the same comfort level and are modern having been subject to refurbishment a few years ago. Rooms 2 and 4 are standard double ensuite rooms. The ensuites are not the size of a family bathroom in a family home (as we have in rooms 1 and 3) but they are by no means small or cramped as can be seen in the photos here on Trip Advisor. Our main picture is of room 2 and the bathroom shot is also room 2. We let these rooms out to both couples and single travelers at a very competitive rate. Rooms 1 and 3 here are indeed much larger, room 1 being a family/triple room and room and room 3 being a very large room with a sofa and fantastic fell views and offer very good value for money. All our prices include both full English and continental breakfast using locally sourced, quality produce. We do however welcome all feedback in our efforts to make your stay at Salisbury House and Keswick as good an experience as possible. Best wishes, the team at Salisbury House.

We have stayed at the Salisbury for two nights and I cant imagine why people would choose to stay in a hotel after this experience - not just for value for money, but the accomodation is outstanding. The house and the room was immaculate and everthing in the room and bathroom was as good as some of the very good hotels that we have stayed in.
The food was excellent and of very good quality ...and quantity!

As if it couldnt get any better, Peter is an outstanding host. His attention and friendliness cannot be surpassed - we felt that he was professional and yet so friendly - we could have chatted all day. He was great with our little girl. She is very used to travelling and staying in hotels but she said this was the best ever and she was quite sad when we had to leave Peter.

We will be recommend the Salisbury to anyone who wants to stay in this area - perfect location, perfect accomodation and perfect host ...we have some very lovely memories of our weekend - Anita, Mike and Emily :) xxx

Having literally just returned home from an overnight stay in Keswick, at The Salisbury Guesthouse, I could not wait to post a review about how brilliant I found this place to be.

My girlfriend and I had a last minute notion to go away for a wee night and fancied somewhere different, the Lake District being our location of choice. After looking online at lots and lots of different guest houses, The Salisbury Guesthouse jumped out at us. Upon reading on the website that they only take bookings for more than one night at weekends we were initially disappointed but we decided to email the establishment to seek clarification. The reply was quick and friendly, unfortunately fully booked, but recommended another Guest house (a good sign, I thought) so started looking elsewhere until we received another email that they had a last minute cancellation and had kept us in mind and held the room for us to get back to them with a decision, which we jumped upon!

Before we even arrived at the guest house we had built a friendly rapport with one of the owners, Peter, with whom we were emailing setting up our stay and finding out information about the area and he kindly forwarded us the dining out section of the welcome guide with handy recommendations for each restaurant, with tastes from varying cuisines and dietary options (vegan vegetarian etc), an excellent personal touch and a guid which we relied upon once we arrived.

Check in at The Salisbury is from 4pm but we were told that if we rang the bell beforehand and they were in that they would check us in early, provided on whether the room was ready. So we arrived around 1pm but unfortunately they mustn't have been home so we took the time to scope out the area, the Salisbury is only a 5 minute walk from the town centre (and I mean 5 minutes, myself nor my partner are quick walkers, enjoy a stroll). During this time we used the restaurant guide to make an informed decision on where to eat dinner that night and made reservations, a tip I would give you all too as most places seemed busy when we were strolling at night time!

Once we checked in, just after 3, we were greeted by Peter, a very friendly man, shook our hands and gave us all relevant information about the downstairs communal area. Then the pleasant surprise came, he had upgraded our room to the Large Double for the same, agreed cost. Upon showing us the room we asked about how to get to the nearest lake, not only did he give us full detailed instructions but recommended the most amazing view point on Derwentwater Lake!

The room itself was spacious, immaculate and very comfortable, the little seating area at the tv was a great feature. The brand new radiator, which came on at 3.30-4 het the room up to a comfortable temperature, which was appreciated after a nice stroll in the fresh air of Keswick and the Lake! The lighting was good, with options for a bright ceiling light or two duller bedside lamps for a cosier mood! We both slept brilliantly, and did not want to have to get up, however breakfast called!! The tv was good, only a handful of free view channels but as it was also a DVD player there was an extensive DVD library downstairs to choose from!

At breakfast we were greeted, again, by Peter with our tea and coffee, a very friendly morning chats about our evening activities and plans for the day, our breakfast was with us almost instantly, and all the food was warm and tasted great, all meats and produce are bought locally from butchers and other relevant distributors, no supermarket processed rubbish, the bacon in particular was beyond any I have tasted previous! And on day of departure we are presented with a nice sweet treat at the end of breakfast, on this occasion chewy nougat.

After checking out we felt like we were leaving behind friends and cannot wait to return, and we definitely will do so in the not too distant future, a real class establishment!

This has got to be the best B and B we have stayed at in the Lake District. Everything is spotless and the bed was so comfy and fresh smelling! We both had a really good night's sleep with no noise.

The bathroom was lovely with a nice powerful shower, toiletries and white fluffy towels. The room was always warm and cosy but not too hot which meant you could really relax.

My partner said that his full English breakfast was the best he had ever tasted at a B and B and they even did the bacon nice and crispy like he'd asked! I had cereal and toast as I prefer a lighter option anyway.

Peter is very welcoming and approachable with heaps of knowledge of the area, where to go and what to see. He cannot do enough for you!

There are also some nice little features such as providing umbrellas in the porch and plastic bags for muddy boots, a boot rack in your room (also handy for draping wet trousers to dry) and hundreds of books and DVDs to choose from. The little toiletries were of good quality too.

All of the above makes for the perfect B and B and we would definitely return. Thank you for making our stay very enjoyable, we felt very at home.

Room Tip: Room 4 was very cosy

My Sister and I have returned again, and booked our next stay. It is a wonderful place to stay, it is very clean, comfortable, and the breakfasts and wonderful. Peter's morning weather updates are great and He is warm and friendly. I would not hesitate to go back here on my own. As a single woman traveller they make you very welcome and the extra detail of asking your plans for the day would be a great help for lone walking. Once again, Peter, Thank you so much. See you shortly!
