In this review I am not going to write prose, plenty of that on the site, just facts.

If you are travelling to the Lake District, go to Keswick.
Why:
- Keswick is smaller and lovelier than busy Windermere.
- There are more mountains and more walks.

If you go to Keswick stay at the Salisbury House.
Why:
A side of the perfect breakfast, clean and spacious rooms
- Plenty of free parking space in the street
- Situated in a very quiet neighborhood.
- A few 100 meters from the center with the restaurants pubs etc.
- The host, Peter, has done all the walks, knows all the good places to visit, eat drink etc.
You can go there unprepared; Peter will fill in your day at your convenience

Thank you Nicole and Marc. Well firstly for a review in your second language your English is fantastic. We are very happy you enjoyed Keswick and Salisbury House and we had a great time too looking after you. All four of you (your group) did what we recommend in getting out and making the most of what Keswick has to offer. Hope to see you again and all the very best from us both. Peter and Alex.

My wife and I had a lovely stay at the Salisbury Guesthouse. Peter is a most accommodating host, very friendly, and full of suggestions regarding places to visit and things to do. The cooked breakfast was excellent - lovely scrambled egg, and the bacon was the most 'fat free' I've ever had. I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

Hi Fred and Gill. Really glad you enjoyed your stay here and a big thank you for your lovely review. We try to make the breakfast plates a fat free zone and it helps that we have such a good supplier/butcher in Keswick I have to say. Many thanks and best wishes to you both. Alex and Peter.

I spent four nights with my husband, sister and brother-in-law in the Salisbury Guesthouse. Peter, the host, had a great knowledge about the area and has recommended nice and beautiful walks and scenic driving tours.
The food was great, nothing but fresh ingredients, very well cooked and the rooms were spotless.
The guesthouse is situated only five minutes walk from the town center in a quiet street, with good parking possibilities for free.
Would stay here again, without any doubt!!

You are home already! Thank you for making Salisbury House your base in the Lake District and thank you for your review. We try to provide as much information as we can to help guests make the most of their stay and it's great for us that you made the most of your time here. Thank you also for mentioning the breakfasts. We buy only locally sourced, good quality breakfast ingredients to make your start to the day a good one. Hope the rest of your visit to England was great too. All the very best, Peter and Alex.

Thank you to Alex and Peter for their incredible hospitality at the Salisbury Guesthoue. The standard of the room was excellent, very clean and one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in. We were up very early for the Keswick triathlon (before breakfast hours). However, Alex and Peter still very kindly offered a full breakfast, which I took full advantage of and I am glad I did! We will definitely be returning.

Thank you Anna and Iain for your review and for choosing us for your stay. We are asked very often where the beds are bought from as they are so comfortable so thanks for mentioning that. We have a lot of participators in outdoor challenges staying with us so if we can provide an early breakfast then we do our best to accommodate, even for the partner who is the spectator! Hope to see you again at some point. Alex and Peter.

Thanks for taking the time to review us and your nice words but it is a bit confusing to be marked down at the same time. Our philosophy here is to make your stay the best we can including early breakfasts and flexible check in and check out where we can. We bought Salisbury House because of its location and feel we offer excellent value for money in quality accommodation. Nonetheless we welcome all comments and suggestions our guests offer. Regards, Peter and Alex

Again found it difficult to find accommodation and we were walking the street looking for somewhere for a few days. Peter has just got back from a big hike and we met at his front door. He organised so we had rooms for 3 days and carted our ever growing luggage upstairs. The rooms were meticulously appointed and really comfortable beds. We felt really spoilt. The breakfast was wonderful and he bought me celiac foods so I could eat normally ( without asking). Food was sourced locally and of the highest quality. Peter was full of information about the places to see, pubs that had gluten free foods and showed us where to go and then gave us the maps to use. Sometimes off the beaten tourist track. A pub he told us to stop at for lunch was wonderful and couldn't believe that a B&B in Keswick had recommended them. Would love to give them a 6 out of 5.

Room Tip: Sorry didn't have a swimming pool or fitness centre but it wouldn't let me delete. All rooms...

It was a pleasure to look after you all on the Lakes leg of your trip. We are well versed in coeliac diets having relatives with the same condition so try to find solutions where we can. Hope you had a fantastic time in the rest of the UK too. All the best from Peter and Alex.

We returned to Salisbury House for the third time at the beginning of June and received the same warm and friendly welcome from Peter. First class accommodation in every respect, A good choice for breakfast, which is beautifully cooked and presented. A wealth of information is provided in the brochure in your room. Everything possible has been thought of to ensure a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Peter and Alex really do go the extra mile for their guests.

Peter's up-to-date weather forecast each morning is very helpful when planning your day and he is very happy to give advice about tried and tested walks/places of interest. His wealth of knowledge is invaluable.

So look no further and try this wonderful B&B, you will not be disappointed.

Thank you Peter and Alex. We look forward to being able to return again soon.
