The pictures of this property portray exactly what this delightful little cottage provides in terms of décor and facilities. Throughout it reflects the tastes and talent of its interior designer owners.
The kitchen has all that the most determined self-caterer would want in terms of utensils, crockery, cutlery, cupboard space and work surface area.
Upstairs, the bedrooms both have plenty wardrobe capacity to accommodate cases as well as their contents and the beds offer the perfect place to lay a weary frame after a hard day's hiking in the hills.
The bathroom too is modern and tasteful and incorporates a shower boasting two heads - one fixed to issue a heavy flow of water and the other hand-held to effect efficient rinsing of the body's less accessible parts without having to contort it into a number of unnatural positions.
Back down stairs the lounge and dining area are sumptuously appointed, the perfect place to relax after a day out in the District.
Rowan Tree cottage is located close to the centre of the town and is a 20 minute brisk walk from Friar's Crag which, in my opinion, offers one of the world's great views all the down Derwent Water to the Grange and across to Cat Bells.
When we arrived there was a note asking us not to use the fire. This was no great inconvenience as, after all, we were visiting in the middle of summer. However, we received notification from Richard that he was coming to repair it the following morning at 9.00am. He arrived punctually at the appointed time, promptly and unobtrusively repaired it, then went on his way. Five minutes later there was a further rap on the door. It was Richard bearing a bottle of bubbly in compensation for his intrusion. In our opinion not required, but much appreciated and further evidence of the great attention to detail which has been invested in this venture.
