Just stayed at Burnside for the second time and have booked to go back again next May. There's such a lovely feel to the place...so homely. The breakfasts are excellent (I can thoroughly recommend the waffles) with a varied menu and the wood burner in the breakfast room was a cosy touch. We have stayed in rooms 1 and 2. Both were lovely, spotlessly clean and nicely decorated.
We have stayed in several B&Bs in Keswick over the last few years and this one is by far the best one we have found. Looking forward to our next stay!

If repeat custom is a good indicator of quality then we must rate Burnside as excellent as we have stayed 3 times over the past year and a half and the last two occasions have brought friends and their families with us.The location is just 10 minutes walk from the centre of Keswick. The rooms are well decorated, the Victorian styled rooms are really special. The rooms have always been spotless with nice towels and bedding. The breakfasts are great - there is a good choice of breakfast options and we enjoy trying these - including smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, full English breakfast and also waffles with banana and toffee sauce. The hosts are lovely and we have enjoyed chatting to Sharon who always gives helpful advice about what to do in the local area and has given us suggestions of walks which we have enjoyed. We would always come back to Burnside.

My fiancée and I stayed here over the last weekend and had a lovely time. We both slept soundly on all three nights, and the breakfasts were excellent every morning. It takes a lot to drag me away from the full english but the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon was sublime!

It's a short cab ride (less than £3) from Keswick centre which didn't really bother us as there's always a taxi waiting in the square. Bit lazy perhaps but we'd been hiking all day...

Sharon was a really friendly and welcoming host and Keswick and it's surrounds make for a lovely break. Recommended!

Room Tip: We had the smaller room at the back of the house. It's not huge but absolutely fine for a weeken...

Hi to you both,
Thank you for taking the time to write us a lovely review.Hope you both enjoyed your time in the lake district . I was pleased I was able to offer you both a lift back to Penrith rather than the bus as it gave you afew hours extra to look around Keswick.Hope you have a great Christmas & good luck with the wedding.

This is a smashing little Bed & Breakfast (4 rooms), situated almost exactly 1 mile (20 minutes brisk walk) from the centre of the town of Keswick. The accommodation and decoration is of a high quality and is absolutely spotlessly clean. And I mean spotless! Our room was at the front of the house and we slept like logs! The place was also nicely warm, with a good central heating system. The English breakfast was good and filling, without being a belt buster. There was also a choice of waffles and variations of eggy things, etc. Choice of various cereals, grapefruit and yogurt, toast, etc. Cafetiere of Coffee or tea. orange / apple juice. The owners are very friendly, helpful and chatty. We shall definitely being using this B&B again. Excellent.

Room Tip: Penrith Road runs passed the front of the house, but do not be put off by that. The road is not what...

Burnside provided us with a perfect 3 night stay in the Lake District. It is very conveniently located just out of the centre of Keswick, with parking across the road and easy access to local walks and the rest of the Lake District. The B&B itself is nicely decorated and very cosy, a great place to come back to after a long day outside. The room (no4) was ideal, being a perfect size for our short stay. It was warm and inviting, unbelievably clean and included all the amenities that are needed (WiFi, Flat-screen TV, sofa and even a welcoming Teddy!). Sharon cooks a delicious full English breakfast and is all round an excellent host. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area and is genuinely deserving of 5 stars. We look forward to visiting again!

This house we found quite easily, and were able to park 30m away, across the road.
Though the house is unprepossessing externally, the proprietors have created a small, but tasteful, breakfast room to accommodate their guests in their four bedrooms. We were allocated room-2 for our two nights booking in late October. Our room was at the front of the house, on the first floor, facing onto the road outside. It was not double glazed but we experienced no great disturbance from passing traffic.

The room was adequately furnished with a large wardrobe, flat screen TV and a chest of draws (tea & coffee making facilities Inc.), the settee was and added bonus. We found the bed to be warm and comfortable, though we had to stack the several cushions with the pillows in order to sit up in bed without the discomfort of the iron & brass bed-head. The bijou shower room was also well equipped. Our room was spotlessly clean. The teddy bear was banished to the fireplace! We found the room temperature to be perfect, and were glad of the comfort & shelter Burnside presented during the extremely wet three days of our stay.

Full English breakfast was taken and greatly enjoyed. We would certainly recommend this B&B to anyone heading for the lakes.

Room Tip: We found Room-2 on the first floor to be spacious & comfortable

As ever we our grateful that 'Peter B' has taken the trouble to write a review of his stay with us.

However we are a little disapointed with the tone of the review. Our breakfast room comfortably accommodates 4 tables; 1 for each of our rooms including a larger table for families or couples holidaying together and has cosy woodburner too.

We believe all our rooms are more than 'adequately' furnished; room 2 in particular has a 32" flat screen TV, antique furniture and retains many period features.

We have made a concious decision not to replace the original sash windows throughout the B&B. However in response to cutomer feedback via Tripadvisor etc have had them renovated, at no small expense, to improve insulation and ensure good sleep quality for our guests.

When sitting up in bed we recommend using 2 pillows (supplied) whether against an 'iron & brass' wooden headboard. For hygiene reasons we don't use leather or fabric alternatives.

Overall we're pleased with this review though diasagree that our location is average. We're just under 1 mile from the centre of Keswick near enoght to walk or taxi cheaply but away from the hustle & bustle.

Lastly this reviewer forgot to mention that he received an unprompted upgraded room free of charge. When we can go the extra mile we do though unfortunately can't control the weather.

We couldn't fault this beautiful b&b in Keswick...every aspect of the accommodation was perfect and our room (no4) was the perfect size for our 3 night stay! Sharon was extremely welcoming and helped us out with requests on several occasions (from peas to pain relief)! A special mention to the waffles at breakfast which are AMAZING - I'd suggest trying them with bacon...sounds strange but tastes fabulous! Thank you for a real home from home stay...will recommend to friends highly!
