“A great place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2010

Just come back from a two night say at this B & B whilst hiking in the Lake District. Can't fault it at all. Really clean, modern, with excellent facilities. The rooms have modern nuteral decor. En-suite bathroom really nice. Little touches in each room really good - like a small flat screen tv/dvd in the room with a selection of dvd and books, tv/coffee making facilities. This establishment caters for all. From Mountaineerers to families. Phillip and Gillian are really helpful, will try and dry your wet kit out. The food is spot on - Really good cooked breakfast - lots of selection. Will even do you a pack up if required for a very resonable price. Overall excellent value top quality B&B.

Rooms are spotless and stylish with great views if you are on the third floor. There is a good selection of lakeland literature and guidebooks in the room which is a lovely touch [there's also an LCD TV if this interests you?.] Gillian was friendly and professional, breakfast was superb, and I would happily recommend this B & B to anyone I know. I have given 5 stars in every category and they are well deserved.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Grassmoor and agree with all that has been said before--Gillian and Phil were very helpful, the rooms were perfectly clean, and breakfast was superb. We also really appreciated the location; it was a very short walk to restaurants (and the Keswick Beer Festival!) and hiking trails.

Best of all (and unexpected!) was lunch. For a mere 4.50, Gillian and Phil provided a packed lunch that included a sandwich (of our choice), fruit, a very large biscuit, a bag of chips, and a juice box. It was just the meal we needed when we were in the middle of a long hike!

Grassmoor Guest House is a superb B&B right in the middle of lovely Kewick. It is ideally located as a base for exploring all that The Lakes has to offer. My husband and I have stayed many times and there are a number of reasons why we enjoy going back;
- the level of cleanliness in the rooms is 5 star, and all are equiped with TVs, DVD player, local books, tea and coffee making facilities, and a fridge in each room. Although just the 2 of us we always book one of the family rooms as it gives us a bit more space.
- the the quality of the breakfast is superb whether you are just wanting a light breakfast or a hearty "lakeland" breakfast to set you up for a day in the fells!
- the hospitality offered by Gillian and Phil is very warm and welcoming. They can not do enough for you, be it local advice on eating out to a thorough knowledge of The Peaks, local walks etc
I am a very fussy soul and I would not recommend anywhere where I do not feel comfortable - Grassmoor is a winner every time.

We were glad we picked Grassmoor from the myriad of B&Bs on offer in Keswick. It was light and airy with clean modern decor . Our room looked out over Blencathra and had a comfy sofa, which was very welcome in the evenings . We appreciated the fridge and the daily jug of fresh milk and the fairtrade produce. We enjoyed choosing from the breakfast menus and we can recommend the pancakes. There is no dedicated parking, but we always found a handy space in Blencathra Street. It is only a short distance to the shops and restaurants and there are good walks around Keswick that can be done from the B&B. We would like to endorse other reviewers' comments and thank Gill and Philip for the thoughtful touches that added to the comfort and quality of our stay.

We visit Keswick regularly and always stay with Gillian and Phil. We like the fact that they are outdoor enthusiasts and really make the most of their time in the Lakes. They are very helpful when it comes to advising walking/bike routes, and other local information. Special touches include fresh milk and fridge in rooms, huge yummy breakfast choices, daily weather reports, and I love the shower gel!!! Location is spot on. For this visit we travelled in a party of seven and stayed four days. The level of service was excellent - thanks, see you soon!

Have stayed here many times, both on our own and with friends. The welcome is always warm and friendly, as is the accommodation which is also spotless. Gillian and Phil's knowledge of the area is invaluable when planning your day and they are happy to lend maps or books if need be. It's great to find somewhere that caters so well for vegetarians and provides fruit teas for us who don't drink the usual tea and coffee. The hardest decision is what to have for breakfast. There's so much to choice. Can't wait to go again in March. Graham & Liz.
