“Just the perfect B&B we were looking for”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 October 2013

We have favourite high quality B&Bs in Scotland and the North East and we were looking for one of the same excellent standard in the Lakes. The Lookout is the end of our search. Dave and Liz were very welcoming hosts. We stayed in room 3 which had a fabulous view and a balcony from which to enjoy it. The room was spacious with 2 easy chairs ( not always the case in B&Bs). The fridge with fresh milk was a very useful feature. The bathroom was also very spacious and included a power shower and plenty of space for one's toiletries. Breakfasts were cooked fresh to order and there was plenty of choice on the menu. Again the view from the breakfast room/lounge was equally as good and there was also a balcony for use by guests in other rooms. There was plenty of off-street parking which always makes life easier.

Having stayed earlier in June we just had to book another three nights at "The Lookout" and have just returned home. We knew that while the weather was unlikely to be as good as in June (it was not!) we could still relax with wonderful views from our bedroom window, even on a wet day (and we did!). Liz and Dave are wonderful hosts and they run an exceptional B&B. Rooms 1 and 3 have uninterrupted views towards the fells and all three rooms are modern, well equipped and very clean. The breakfast is very substantial including the home made granola and the tasty and excellently presented cooked options. We have already booked for 2014 and cant wait...

We've stayed at dozens of B&B's over the years. This one is without peer. Beautiful room with an incredible view, great location, attentive hosts, great breakfast (I chose the smoked salmon and eggs - a fairly broad number of choices were offered), in a beautiful part of England. I could go into more detail, but the title of this review is all one needs to know.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that overlooks the garden with a view to the west.

Stayed here for just one night for a birthday treat wish we could have stayed longer. Arrived at about 11 and asked if we could leave our car in their car park as we knew the room wouldn't be ready so we could walk into town. Liz the owner kindly gave us our keys and showed us around the b+b and said we could come back any time. Thought this was very good service unlike some places we have been where check in times are quite regimented. Enjoyed an afternoon in Keswick and a nice lunch then had a pleasant walk back. We stayed in room 1 . The quality of everything in the room was exceptional and the bathroom amazing with large bath and separate walk in shower. It has a large king size bed very comfortable with quality linen. You also get a mini fridge with fresh milk for your tea/coffee. The room is large with a sofa and two chairs from which you can sit and admire the outstanding views. Had a very good nights sleep very peaceful. Breakfast the next morning was equally outstanding. Fresh fruit salad , granola and yoghurt followed by a full English breakfast using only quality produce. The Lookout is a beautiful building finished to a very high standard. To me it should be five stars and it should be number one on here. Will definitely return . Thank you for a fabulous stay.

Room Tip: Rooms 1 and 3 have the best views. Room 1 has a bath well worth it.

Just back from 1 nights stay here for my wife's birthday, wish we could have stayed longer. We were in room 1 which had a bath , a must for my wife who likes to lie back and relax. The room was large with outstanding views of gardens and mountains. Plenty of car parking space and a 15 minute walk to the town centre or a £3 taxi ride away. Breakfast was delicious and not done cheaply , again with lovely views in nice surroundings. The whole house is a credit to its owners Liz and Dave who have worked hard to bring it to the standard it is today. Well done! No hesitation in staying again if in the area.

This is the second time we've stayed at The Lookout and we were not diappointed with our return. Stunning views from our room (no. 3) with the added bonus of a little balcony with table and chairs. Really well equipped with silent mini fridge and china and cutlery. Lovely big shower room with large shower. Great breakfast - again with a view. We've recommended this to friends and family and everybody says the same - the best place to stay in The Lakes. And I should mention how hospitable and kind Liz and Dave are without being intrusive.

Room Tip: If you prefer a bath, you should choose room 1.
