Nice spot for a quick snack, but so cramped and cluttered. Service was freindly but we felt so sorry for the waitress/cook she was on her own working in a minute kitchen with very little space to walk and serve and clear tables. Considering that there quite a few customers in she was doing a magnificent job to try and stay on top of things. Some customers left as their service was very slow, we were lucky and timed our arrival just right. Food is OK, but please get some staff to help out!

Had high hopes of a bistro environment serving lighter evening meals at a good price to compliment the many pub based dining options in Keswick.
Unfortunately the food was very mediocre, dry vegetarian wellington and a pork fillet goulash which was pieces of pork smothered in a thick strong tomato sauce.
Presentation was also poor for the type of cafe/bistro it's decor leads you to expect.
Plenty of better options for dining out in Keswick.

Stayed in Keswick for a week and had seen this place while out shopping which looked lovely somewhere different to go.

Only a small place, but when we went in at lunchtime there was only one table full of people there, Decided to sit on the table outside in the garden but was in full view of the waitresses and door. Was given a menu. Looked lovely we decided to order some rather nice looking deserts and hot drinks. And we waited..... and waited....and waited.... the waitress came outside not sure what she was doing and told us we would get served soon and went back in. In the mean time two more tables of people arrived. Still we waited. Finally another waitress told our waitress that she would take over from her, and she started serving the people who came in after us. Charming we did say something got ignored, so walked up and out of the place telling them thanks for ignoring us. They didnt bother to say anything!

Would only recommend this place if you like being ingnored, you have plenty of time to sit around and wait. If you have kids only bring them in if they have endless supplies of patience!

High-end gift shop by day, bistro by night, XVII is a charming little dining venue. Tables are crammed amongst prams full of teddy bears with the result successfully creating a convivial atmosphere.

The dishes varied in quality; a slightly overdone steak was saved by the delicious side vegetables whilst a tasty fishcake starter made up for an Eton Mess which plumped for far too much cream. However, at £14 for three courses, it was good value.

Service was slow (due to a busy night) but charming and, to be fair, this is somewhere to linger for an evening. A refreshing change from the Keswick tourist traps.

We have visited this little bistro on the last few occassions that we have been in Keswick and always had a lovely meal and a brilliant welcome. Its not a big place so if you are in the area call in during the day to book a table for the evening.
Cant remember the price but you get a two or three course for set prices and they are very reasonable. Everything is freshly cooked and there are some lovely vegetarian options.
There are masses of trinkets around the place - many of which are for sale. Sandra - your hostess - supports a local musician and plays his music peacefully in the background and will sell you a copy if you ask.
All in all this bistro is in our opinion the best place to eat in Keswick for a lovely reasonably priced meal with some very interesting dishes on the menu.
