“Best tea shop, full of character & canvases”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

What a beautifully crafted shop, a visual feast, full of lovely treasures, including creative canvases with stunning photos, which each tell a story. We enjoyed a lovely cup of tea and chocolate cake, sat on vintage sofas whilst reading all the stories and photos. small book shelf of kids books for our 1 year old to look through. Its clear a lot of love and tallent has gone into this place. If you like making things, you'll enjoy the knitting patterns/ craft kits and wools. All in the very best of taste. Highly recommended.

“Thanks for making a somewhat lacklustre trip to The Lakes, worthwhile.”
Reviewed 18 April 2014

Thanks for making a somewhat lacklustre trip to The Lakes, worthwhile. We drove up to Keswick, from Ambleside, to pay an ironic visit to The Pencil Museum (a la Sightseers). Thus far, Keswick could only offer us a pretty good Oxfam (mid-town) and a pretty good Junk Shop (at the top of the town). The Pencil Museum was predictably underwhelming, but on the way back into town, we noticed Temporary Measure. We were in need of a cup of coffee and a peer into the window returned nothing but confusion. And so, the deal was done. Wonderful coffee and cake, refreshingly subtle service, and, I discovered the faultless music of Sycamore Sykes. In the words of Ernest Hemingway "it was good".

“A Place of Images and Words...and great food and lots of interesting things to buy.”
Reviewed 11 March 2014 via mobile

We stumbled upon this little place, well, only on the outside is it so. The pictures, cards and even the little signs have lines of type, some of them fragments of stories, which must be read to be appreciated. The refreshments are well prepared and the cakes...scrummydunctious. It's an inspirational place especially during the Lit Fest time for those able to put words on paper....and even for those, who, one day, hope to read out their carefully composed poems. Check out this brilliant and Creative place. I did, and I've bought....and written...lots! An ideal venue for Words By The Water Fringe events! JK.

“Judge for yourself! We were happy-ish!”
Reviewed 18 February 2014

A quirky little gift/craft/art shop with tearoom as well. At 74 Main Street, Keswick, right-hand side, leading out of town towards Cockermouth. Previous TA comments were generally mixed with some really ‘poor’ one’s. These just make us want to visit ‘all the more’!

Plus points - Pleasing surroundings. Quirky décor and craft shop stock. Many interesting items. Simple, straight forward menu. Good coffee / hot chocolate, scones etc. Window seating looking onto the bustling main road. Trip Advisor ‘Certificate of Excellence 2013 Winner’.

Minus points - the lady serving was possibly the ‘other half’ of the gentleman referred to in previous reports & ‘The Daily Telegraph, who was not there when we visited. Pleasant - just, and we did manage to get a smile - just!
