“Rainy Day activity”

Good activity to do for an hour, especially if it is a rainy day. No doubt more fun for the younger children

“Mind boggling fun for all the family”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

When researching our trip to the Lake District we read about this small attraction and was keen to visit. The attraction is tucked away but so worth the visit and the small entrance fee. Some of the puzzles and illusions left us wondering and discussing how, some had us laughing, some were plain strange but it was a great place to explore with family.

“Weird and wonderful”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

Visited midweek at the start of August. The puzzling place was extremely busy and queues had formed in front of most of the exhibits. It was very interesting to find out how easy your eyes can be fooled. A word of caution for the less mobile, access is up a steep flight of stairs! Worth visiting for older kids.

“Fantastic place to spend an afternoon!”
Reviewed 18 August 2014

A superb place to spend a few hours and well worth the money. We took our two boys aged 11 and 9 and they didn't want to leave! Must have spent about 4 hours in here and it cost less than £13 for all of us so well worth it! You could spend over an hour in the entrance bit which is free because there are loads of puzzles in here that really get your mind working and trying to decipher them. In the actual main bit we spent ages trying to work out each puzzle and having a go. It's very hands on and they let dogs in too which is a bonus! The exhibits aren't brand spanking new because everyone gets to touch them and have a go so obviously things are worn - but I think that just adds to the charm.
Brilliant place and would definitely recommend.

“Entertaining”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

Went here with my husband, and we had a really good time. There are some great optical illusions, which are really well presented. I liked the use of cameras to show you the illusions that you had to stand in so that you could appreciate them if you were on your own.

There is a walk-in exhibit which uses gravity to demonstrate some of the illusions. I am very sensitive to motion sickness, and regretted not leaving this until last as I needed a sit down for a bit afterwards. If the same applies to you, it is still worth seeing, but do it at the end!

Also, there are no toilets in the venue.
