One of the main attractions for me was the off street parking, as described accurately on the website. I have a mortorcycle which I did not want to park on the street, all well and good until I decided on an early start one morning (around 5:45) to get to see some sights before the crowds arrived. When I got back, I was accosted by the owner of the guesthouse and told in no uncertain terms that the noise woke him and that it probably woke the other guests and that it was unacceptable. Now I am a middle aged motorcycle rider (not a "biker" by any means) and I started the engine and went, I did not gratuitously rev the engine, and the bike is no louder than a car. I can accept the issue being raised, however, I did not appreciate the way the message was delivered and I particularly did not appreciate the mini lecture about "thinking about others" so my day was thoroughly spoiled as a result, a bit of diplomacy would not have gone amiss, but to be ticked off when you are a paying guest is beyond the pail. So if you stay here and want an early start in any motorised vehicle I suggest you avoid this place.

I brought this matter to Mr M*******s attention face to face and one to one. I pointed out that at that time in the morning sound carries a long way in a quiet town like Keswick. This reaction to what I said and how I said it is completely surprising to me and something of an overreaction. He showed no sign of umbrage at the time and frankly I didn't give the matter another thought until five minutes ago. We have had many guests who leave for early starts to take early morning photos and register for events etc and show consideration to other residents and have never had a problem. This is an untypical review and if guests and prospective guests wish to see a true picture please check across all media. Clearly, I regret he didn't have such a good time as he would have liked, partly due to the weather.

Our life would be so much simpler if all our guests were like you! To be fair the majority are great so thanks for your generous comments and do come back anytime.

Comfortable well equppied twin room for two. Off road parking a bonus for keeping cars and bikes safe. A stone's throw from town centre.

Breakfast was good and healthy although kids might prefer a wider range of cereals.

Very enjoyable stay!

We stayed over the Easter weekend and found the accommodation to perfectly suit our needs! The location really is fantastic and well placed for walking in the fells and around Derwentwater! Good parking which is rare. Very clean accommodation with a lovely lounge area for rainy days. We really liked that you could donate money to various causes around the guest house through buying jams and other items. The reception has water and flapjacks to purchase if you forget last minute supplies before embarking on a walk. A very comfortable night sleep. The breakfast was well organised with lots of different options including a vegetarian breakfast. The only thing we would suggest is perhaps some gentle music in the breakfast room as it can be a bit quiet and sometimes a bit awkward crunching cereal with someone sitting quietly! If that's the only thing I can recommend that says something about this place! The owners are clearly great at that they do and offered a very warm welcome. Thank you - we would return without hesitation!

Thanks for the fulsome feedback - and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. We encourage our guests to talk to each other and when we had music it wasn't always to everyone's taste but I do acknowledge we Brits can be a stuffy lot sometimes!

Do come back again when you're next in the Lakes.

Great location with private parking is a real bonus so close to town centre.
Friendly hosts, clean and warm bedroom with a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day.
We have no doubt that when we return to Keswick this will be top of our list for re-booking. We just wish that Sean could have a greater influence on the weather.
All the best and many thanks.
