Hello, and thank you for your review. Really pleased that you enjoyed your time climbing outdoors with us. Despite being an indoor climbing wall, we always run outdoor sessions as well and run specific sessions to introduce you to outdoor climbing which is quite different to climbing walls: no brightly coloured holds for one !! I will pass your comments to Adam and Dappy as well and come and climb with us again next time you are in Keswick.

My missus had a thing for archery since we tried it at a festival the year earlier so as we were away for her birthday staying nearby in Penrith I booked this as a birthday surprise which was quite fortuitous as it rained that day which limits your options in the lake district. This was run in a barn by a lovely guy called Sam who showed us how to hold and aim and perfect hitting the target in the same place each time, apparently continuity is the key to archery and then making minor adjustments to score higher. We were lucky to have one-on-one practice with him instead of being in a bigger class which meant we had more shooting time. Great fun to do but I'll draw the line at wearing green tights!

Stopped in here to allow our 12 year old son have a go at bouldering.

The place is clean and tidy with plenty of staff around, who were attentive to what was going off and ensuring that toddlers didn't wander beneath people climbing overhangs who were likely to fall on them.

Refreshments were from vending machines which was OK, but I think a café would do well there as there are a number of activities available on site.

The roped climbing required training, understandably, but we didn't try that.

Ideal distraction for the kids if the weather turns against you!

Hello, and thank you for the great review. I am glad your family enjoyed the bouldering and next time, come for a family climbing lesson and learn how to belay as well as climb. Once you are deemed safe belaying, you can stay and climb for the rest of the day at no extra cost ~ that's not too bad a deal !! We would also love to have a cafe but at the moment, its too expensive to build and set up, so the vending machines are still here. You can always bring a packed lunch as we have indoor and outdoor picnic facilities, Come and see us next time you are in the Keswick area.

Our son and his mates really enjoyed the challenge of the wall and the location of the farm alongside the Castlerigg Stone Circle made it an easy place to find - just off the A66.

We booked a session kayaking on Derwentwater as a treat for a birthday. We highly recommend it. The best views of the lake are definitely from the middle of it - the sun was shining and the water was so calm! Our instructor was brilliant, he tried out a few games to build our confidence on the water, and we kayaked out to several of the islands in the middle of the lake to go exploring. He even convinced us to jump into the lake off a jetty, and held up his promise to do it too! (Good way to cool down). Hard work but thoroughly rewarding.

Hello, and thank you for your great review. I am pleased that you had such a good time kayaking with us. We always try to make a journey to the islands or play some games when kayaking as well as teaching basic technique and going over safety procedure. Jumping in at the end is not compulsory but its great fun - well you have just spent the last 3 hours floating on the lake so you may as well get in it, especially on a hot day !! Come and try Ghyll Scrambling next time if you like getting wet !!
