“Immaculate hotel in convenient location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 November 2011

We stayed at the Edwardene for 2 nights in October and were extremely pleased with the location, quality and service. Due to booking late we were allocated the last available room, 'Myrtle', which was a small double room with a good en-suite shower (quality toiletries provided - even cotton buds!) The rooms had clearly been refurbished recently, to a very high standard, and the cleanliness throughout the hotel was absolutely first class. The hotel stands out as a quality establishment as soon as you view its exterior.Breakfast was lovely and the owners were very welcoming and helpful. The only potential issues for us was that there is limited parking in the road close to the hotel (although the owner happily moved his vehicle to enable us to park opposite, so that we could unload our luggage) so at times it may be dificult to find a space nearby. We were also unable to connect to the Wi-fi (although this could have been a problem with our laptop rather than the hotel!) After arriving home we were telephoned by the owner, as we had left an item of clothing behind in our room, and they kindly parcelled it up and posted it to us. Overall, a relaxed, friendly and highly recommended hotel.

We've been coming to Keswick for the last six or so years, leaving it fairly late to book and we've stayed in some o.k. places. In June we were lucky enough to chance upon The Edwardene Hotel. Wonderfully friendly but not obtrusive owners, immaculately kept rooms and superb food served in very relaxed surroundings. We stayed again a few days ago and are already looking forward to our next visit.

We stayed at the Edwardene a couple of years ago for two nights, and returned for a brief one night visit. We stayed in the room called Heather, which is a fairly small double but with a relatively spacious bathroom with a lovely deep bath, and is very nicely decorated with an extremely comfy bed. Breakfast was excellent - we had the "half size" full Cumbrian, which is plenty for me and very well cooked!

2nd time I stayed.

Situated just off the centre of Keswick.

Friendly and welcoming owner. Efficient and relaxed booking, eg I changed dates with no hassle.

The single room was adequate size.. Pleasant decor. Tea, hot chocolate, fruit. Comfortable bed. Quiet.

Wash basin in the room - lavatory and shower in the separate en suite room. Nice toiletries.

Warm, clean.

Noticeably good breakfast. Large pleasant bright room, cheery service. Buffet with fruit, muesli. Good cooked breakfast, including for vegetarians and vegans.

Comfortable first floor lounge for rainy days.

Credit cards have a surcharge (you are warned), debit cards not.

Early normal check out time (10.30) but as they did not think they would need the room the next day, they let me keep it until the afternoon, which was really nice of them as it gave me somewhere to shower and change after a day walking andbefore going home. So, very focused on the comfort and convenience of the guests.

Thoroughly recommended.

Keswick's gone pretty upmarket and I have to say that the Edwardene is a great base for exploring this great area of the Lakes. Top location - central yet very quiet. Lovely hosts, gorgeous breakfast, easy atmosphere and extremely comfortable bed. Perfect, really.

Room Tip: The family room was excellent

7 of us stayed here in Sept 2011 whilst walking the Cumbria Way. The Edwardene was well located, provided a very warm & friendly welcome, very comfortable accommodation, with an excellent shower and a superb breakfast. An added bonus was the drying room which we unfortunately needed after a couple of days of wet walking!!

I stayed here for 2 nights in August. I cannot fault this b&b. Great location, 5 mins walk to the centre of Keswick and a 10 mins walk to Derwent Water. The owners were welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was quality. The room was stylish, with an extremely comfortable bed and a large walk in power shower.
I would definitely recommend this b&b and look forward to staying here again in the future.
