Return visit to the Keswick.Spent 3 nights here over weekend of 16th. Reiterate other reviews, well situated approx 5 mins easy walking into town centre or out of the back of the hotel to nearby access to fells.

Room comfortable, clean and spacious, bar and lounge areas light and airy with plenty comfortable seating.

Food couldn't be faulted, plenty of choice.

Staff professional and very friendly.

If you are lookin to stay close to town centre but in a quiet area this is the place for you.

This is our third visit to this hotel and we couldn't fault anything, the food is excellent, the staff very friendly and helpful and the rooms comfortable with lovely views of the the mountains The bar and lounge areas are very comfortable with reasonably priced drinks. It is just a short walk into Keswick town and Lake Derwentwater Lake. We are looking forward to our fourth visit and many more.

We have just returned from a 4 day break at this hotel and we could not find fault with it at all. We had a room overlooking the mountains and car park (not so nice but at least we could keep an eye on the car) The room was big with everything we wanted in it. The hotel lounge and bar areas were very comfortable and the food was excellent. the weather apart from Monday morning was great. The grounds were good with croquet on the lawns and it was within a short walking distance of the town centre. Only niggle I had is that as a fussy eater (only eats English) the dinner menu had more spicy food on it than what I'd have wanted, but there was always the chefs choice to fall back on. We have stayed in all the Choice Hotels now and thought this one was the best by far.

Room Tip: Think if we had have known betterwe would have booked a garden room.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. Could not fault it except perhaps for the warm breakfast rather than HOT!
All in all a very pleasant clean hotel to stay! We shall certainly return again as had the other guests we came across who had previously stayed on over 40 occasions!!

Myself and my husband just stayed from 2nd-5th August and was very pleased with our room (could do with plumper/firmer pillows thou). The restaurant very nice indeed and well just about everything with the hotel was lovely.
We saw the rabbits come out every evening running around the grass...was good to watch whilst eating evening dinner.
Very close to the town centre which is such a lovely place and just a 5-10min walk. Derwentwater lake just round corner from centre of the town also.
You can play croquet/putting on the lawns of hotel for free but grass seems to hold water so watch the shoes!
They catered very well for my gluten free diet (I notified them 2 days prior to going) I was explained which of the starters/main course/desserts I could have each evening. Was very impressed with how they made sure none of my gluten free food got contaminated with other food. They made my toast in the morning so not too use the same toasters provided that other guests were using.
Staff very polite and helpful. The only criticism I have was the 'sugar sweeteners' for our coffee because they were 'all' dry and had crystallised, we opened several packets and in end asked if we could have the tablet sweeteners instead but they didn't have any available so we ended up popping to shop to buy some of our own. We found the same problem in our room and cleaner provided more but again they too were crystallised. But that is the only criticism and we would certainly not let that put us off going again as we fully enjoyed it. We will defo be going again.

My wife and I decided on a short break in The Lake District and chose this hotel. Ideally situated for a walk into town or 10 mins to Derwent Water.
We had a Garden Room with a bay window and looking out onto a lawned area was surprised to see two games of croquet taking place. An ideal setting.
Our room was everything we expected but we had to immediately open the sash windows as the sun was shining in heating up the room. .An offer of a room fan would have been a nice gesture from the hotel.
Our dining experience was first class with the standard being restaurant quality.
The only criticism was that we were there in the middle of a heatwave and the dining room was a little too warm for comfortable eating.
We can recommend the walk round Buttermere as it takes about two hours with a lot of the walk shaded by trees. Don't follow the sat nav though as you may end up driving over a narrow mountain pass.
The Hotels greatest asset in our opinion are its staff, always smiling, efficient and pleasant.
We will be back.
