We stayed 2 nights here and we liked it very much. I agree with some of the reviews of the decor being a bit old, but I think that is part of the charm. The rooms were very clean and the bathrooms spotless. I say rooms because we switched to another room for the second night. Our first room was fine until guests went out to have a cigarette and the favorite smoking spot was right under our window. We had the window open just an inch or so and the smell came right in and we could hear people laughing, talking, coughing right under the window up to 11:00 at night and then starting at 7:00 in the morning. It was awful and I felt bad complaining since we only had one more night, but I just couldn't stand it. The front desk was so nice and moved us no problem and because the hotel was very full, she upgraded us to a nicer room with a beautiful view. It was great. They really need to deal with the "smoking area" at the front of the hotel. We had breakfast and dinner there and the food was very good. We felt a little rushed at dinner - the food came out too fast, but being a busy hotel, I guess they wanted to keep things moving. It was a simple walk to town, maybe 5 to 10 minutes with a nice park close by. Very nice people, also plenty of parking which is hard to find at European hotels. I would stay again, but not in room 107.

Room Tip: Avoid room 107, people smoke under the window.

We stayed here for two nights whilst driving aroind the uk and loved it.. the location was fantastic the rooms were a bit dated but hey it is a couple of hundred yrs old. Fabulous old bath views over the gardens and a great atmosphere. But best of all the food for breakfast and dinner was fantastic .one of the best dinners we have had

Just had two nights at the Keswick Country House Hotel. I have been going to this hotel for about twentry years and have never been disappointed in their high standards. The staff are very friendly, helpful and polite, without being intrusive. The food is excellent, shower very efficient, all
housekeeping up to a good standard. All in all, great value for money.

Great walks, especially around the lake, which is about ten miles.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front of the hotel are quieter, but more expensive.

This is an excellent hotel well placed on the edge of Keswick. The food is outstanding, excellent staff in all areas who have obviously been well trained. Nikolett in the dining room was a very hard working waitress. The bar staff display great interpersonal skills and the reception staff are very helpful. We will go again.

We have been conning to the Keswick Hotel for 27 years now and have recommended to family and friends for as long as I can remember. Not in either case because it is posh but always because it is so comfortable and friendly and because the food is always so good. But mainly because this place cannot be beaten for value for money.
This year we have been three times and have paid as little as £41 each per night (admittedly in February). This includes a great breakfast and dinner.
Don't come thinking you will get lots of chrome and glass and a modern look. You will get Victorian age comfort and feel with warm rooms and creaky floor boards which we love.
Give it a go and you may well become regulars like us.
