Stayed in the Skiddaw back in September and had a great time have just booked again for this month
The room was lovely, very well decorated a pleasure to stay in.The breakfasts were excellent ,we also had a meal in the bar and afternoon tea both exceeded our expectations. The bar was very welcoming and all the staff realy looked after us.

Room Tip: Ask for a superior room on the main street

We have just spent a lovely weekend at the Skiddaw hotel. It was a special offer which included an upgraded room and it was very pleasant with everything we needed including coffee making facilities.. The decor was light and cheerful and
the cleanliness of room and bathroom could not be faulted. The bath widened out at the shower end which made it very comfortable to use. The bed was large and comfortable too.Dinner was included in the offer so we had two excellent 4 course evening meals, well cooked with plenty of choice and more than we could eat. Breakfasts were great too with lots of choice. The hotel is situated right in the centre of Keswick and has free parking in the large car park immediately behind it.so that was very convenient.

Room Tip: Perhaps a room at the back if you are there on a Saturday morning, to avoid the noise of the market...

What can be said but absolutely FANTASTIC the hotel, the staff the whole package. Could not ask for more. The room we had was slightly dated but perfectly clean, we had our 2 miniature schnauzers with us(we were in a dog room) but we have been offered an upgraded room for next year. The food was excellent and plenty of it. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and always very pleasant. We enjoyed the whole christmas experience. Thanks Neels and all your staff. Hope to see you all again soon :-)

Overall we have a lovely New Year break at the Skiddaw, staff couldnt be more helpful. The food was excellant and cleanliness very good. I was however disappointed with the dated and shabby decor of the rooms (we were in the family room 22/23) The pictures of the rooms on the website led me to believe that they were modern and fresh. This was sadly not the case, we had even upgraded to a Sumit Room to ensure that it was to a good standard. In future if I book any hotel in this group I will ask to see a picture of the actual room. Please please remove the vanity hand basin unit in the family room, reminded me of 1970s B&B holidays in Blackpool!

Room Tip: Ask to see a photo of the room, dont rely on the photos on the website.

We booked into this hotel for a weekend away as an added bonus for my partners 40th,to our suprise we were given the cottage next to it! When i say cottage i mean 2 bedroom terraced house. Downstairs could be updated in the decoration but apart from that is was great.Would book again as location is excellent and its such a lovely town and located in a beautiful part of the lakes. Even better we could nip round for the breakfast in the morning.

Room Tip: Just hope they give you the cottage!

We originally booked in for two nights DB&B. Approached from the car park at the rear and things did not look good. Tatty and dated. We stayed in the Four Poster Suite. Earplugs in the bathroom should have been a warning - Noise from a market being set up from 5am on the Saturday and noise from other guests up until 2am outside room did not make for a comfortable night! Dinner was poor to awful - I have never before had a bad peppercorn sauce but this was so bad it was inedible. Breakfast was better however. On the upside the staff were great and could not be more helpful. The restaurant manager in particular was excellent. I think he knew he had an uphill struggle on his hands in terms of quality of food! We checked out after one night as we needed a decent nights sleep!

Room Tip: Rooms at back quieter
