Lovely to be met by Jason the owner. Although on a corner, car parking is not a problem as you are given a free pass to stay in the car park 2 minutes away.
We stayed in the room called Lords Seat on the top floor - but don't be put off, the view to the hills was lovely and it was quiet. The spa bath was very welcome after our 6hr hill walk. Our teenage kids had the twin on the ground floor- again quiet and handy for them to roll out of bed for breakfast.
The rooms both had plenty of space.
Breakfast was very tasty, and all local produce, cooked by Jason and served by Alison.
Thank you Alison and Jason for a lovely stay.

We stayed from Friday to Monday at the end of March 2011 in Friars crag (double room).

The owners were very welcoming and helpful. They contacted us personally the day before our stay to let us know to call just before we arrived and they would make sure they were in. This is great and I don't know why previous guests would have had a problem with this! It's better than arriving and wondering where anyone is.. We arrived later than planned and they were in anyway.

We were offered help with taking bags to our room, advice with restaurants, walks etc.. Parking permit is provided for free all day parking in some local carparks, literally 1 minutes drive and a short walk around the corner. One of the included car parks is the lakeside by Derwent Water.

Breakfast was fantastic, a wide choice. More importantly you were prompted to choose the night before and not to order bits you might leave, saving on food waste. This is a responsible attitude that I've never seen at a hotel before! I guess some people might have a problem with this non standard practice, but it makes perfect sense. I'm sure ordering the night before speeds up the delivery, as does the 8:30 to 9:15 start window for breakfast..

Room was very comfortable, great view, tea and coffee making facilities, small flatscreen tv. (The batteries were a bit dead in the remote, I forgot to tell the owners, hopefully they are reading this!)

I can't comment on the other rooms.

Location is brilliant, very close to everything in town.

All in all it was a lovely stay and I would recommend it.

We stayed here for 3 nights and were not disappointed. We booked the best room which was very comfortable and even though it was on the road, it was very quiet and we had an excellent nights sleep. The location is perfect bang in the middle of Keswick so short walks to all pubs/restaurants. Jason was able to recommend places to eat/drink and these were good (and we are particular!!) Jason was also able to let us have detailed local knowledge to make the most of our stay - both walking and driving routes were well detailed and an excellent intro into the Lakes. The breakfasts were of a very high quality with plenty of choice - and whilst we didn't make use of the honesty bar, Jason was happy for us to borrow glasses!

We cannot fault this excellent bed and breakfast accommodation. It is very clean and comfortable and in a central location. We booked room 7, which is worth the long haul up the stairs for the fantastic views over the mountains and town. I really enjoyed sipping a glass of cold white wine from the honesty bar as I luxuriated in the spa bath after a day on the fells. The breakfast was excellent and the owners were helpful and pleasant. We were given a parking permit on arrival which allowed us free parking nearby.Next time we are in The Lakes we will certainly book in again.

My Husband and I needed a well earned break and we decided to try Keswick. We found this place on the internet. We are in the pub trade and know how long the working hours are! The service was fantastic. Alison and Jason were only too happy to help. They work extremely hard and should be proud of providing such a warm friendly place to stay. Our threenight break felt like a week....thank you.

Friendly, and efficient service. Plenty of advice form the owners without being in your face. Nothing too much trouble, and as perfect a poached egg as i've ever seen or tasted!
If your in the lakes you couldn't really find better for more money. Would definately visit again.

Just came back with a friend from our first trip to the Lake District. In Keswick we stayed with Jason and Alison for three nights. Having visited their website, and having read other reviews on the web before booking, we were already pretty sure we'd land very well in Keswick. But all turned out to be even better than we could've possibly imagined. A very warm welcome, fantastic beds in a very clean room and what must be the best very full English/ Cumberland breakfast we've ever had, Jason and Alison were also more than helpful in recommending good restaurants, alternative walking routes, supplying us with maps, and last but not least, recommending the best shop to help solve my aching foot problem (go to the fab George Fisher's!). Am sure we'll visit Keswick again, and will then certainly try to reserve a room at the Ravensworth Hotel again. Thanks again Jason and Alison! Best regards from Pieter and Katrin (Amsterdam and Berlin.)
