“Enjoyable trip at a sedate pace”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

On a recent trip to the Lakes we headed straight to Keswick to get a boat trip in before checking into our accommodation at Ambleside.

There's some fine scenery from the water with minimal commentary so a map's a useful companion. It's also a good idea not to sit too near the front (unless you have children with you) as the seats get smaller towards the front of the boat and there is more spray flying up.

A nice way to kill an hour and see some scenery without having to walk or climb very far.

“Different Perspectives”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

This service offers a different perspective to Derwentwater, from the usual vistas at Surprise View, Catbells and Ashness Bridge. For me, I am thankful that there is no running commentary, after all, all that is needed is an OS map !! As it was, I found the apparently obligatory pre-recorded Health & Safety announcements rather loud and intrusive. The service leads you to believe that you can hop on and off at any of the landing stages - you can, but, be warned - when you alight at Keswick, your ticket will be taken from you !! This precludes you from alighting at Keswick mid-trip for refreshments. There may have been a notice to this effect, but I did not see one. Apart from this, the trip is good value, and thoroughly recommended - do be aware that even on a flat calm lake, crossing the wash of another boat will result in a soaking in the front few rows - be prepared !!

“Nice scenary but hardly any commentry”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

We went for this boat trip last week. The scenary was beautiful..but there was hardly any commentry about the stops or mountains that we could see from the boat. Most people on the boat came from far away places and wanted to know more about what they are passing through. I was under the impression that they will stop on all stops but they didnt .Also when announcing the stops it helps if they could say it loudly so that all can hear properly!!We could hardly understand what he was saying!

“Nice little trip”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

It was a boat trip. On a lake. Took slightly less than an hour and didn't stop everywhere, because the lake was not full enough. It was fine

“The best way to appreciate the beauty of Derwentwater”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

Beautifully maintained craft with seats inside and out. Pleasant crew and good time keeping. Cruises go either clockwise or anti-clockwise so you can plan your day. The scenery is fantastic and you can really appreciate this from the lake itself
