Food, drinks and service are not the reason to come here, although they are perfectly ok. It is the picknick area outside that makes this place so utterly enjoyable. Next to a lovely creek, surrounded bly flowers, with views of the surrounding country side and Grange Bridge. It gets to be you're sorry to leave after having finished your drinks/food.

We found this delightful place after a long walk at Derwent water. We enjoyed a great Fellmans lunch, tea and cake in lovely surroundings. It was a glorious sunny day and the place was a picture postcard. We will be back on our next trip to the lakes. Thank you.

Stopped here for lunch whilst walking with friends. Two of us ordered the "Baked Derwent ham salad" with pine nuts and new potatoes. The 'salad' consisted of a plateful of mixed salad leaves and chopped tomato. The 'ham' was pre packed and chopped into small pieces scattered over the 'salad'. At £7.95 we were not only disappointed at the poor content of the so called salad but felt we had been ripped off. The others had baked potatoes and also considered them to be poor value for money. We went round the corner to the other tea room and ordered deserts to fill us up - wished we'd followed our instincts and ate there in the first place as the meals looked a whole lot better.

My dog was barely over the threshold, we were just enquiring whether there was any shade in the garden and the ?owner, in a loud and piercing voice (yet no other customers inside) informed us that dogs were not allowed inside. I was half way through replying that I would sit just outside the door when "so can you take IT outside" was directed at us! I did not observe any no dog notices, and I respect the owners preference for no dogs, but there is absolutely no need for such rudeness. I live locally, I am used to Keswick being so welcoming of dogs. Needless to say we did not eat here, and never will.....the cafe up the road is fabulous!!!!

What more could you want after a long hike. A pot of tea and delicious cake in the most perfect location in delightful gardens by a river.
