When I say 'large', what I mean to convey is that there's plenty of space. You enter the hotel through a small conservatory, complete with comfy chairs - we would have liked to sit there and read, but it was a stopover and there was no time for that! You walk through to a wide hall, with roomy breakfast room and guest lounge off to the left.

Our room wasn't massive, but it was well-appointed (an iron four-poster, indeed!). The shower was powerful and well-supplied, one of my sticking point when I stay in hotels. There were the usual tea/coffee/chocolate making facilities. There was even a little basket with a few chocolates in it (sometimes it's the little things that count). A flat-screen television and plenty of storage (a wardrobe, a chest of drawers, plus three drawers in each bedside table).

Breakfast was good. When we arrived, the proprietor asked if either of us was vegetarian - we both are. She then checked that we'd like vegetarian sausages with the breakfast in the morning. And so, after a good choice of cereals, fruits, yoghurt, etc - a 'full vegetarian breakfast' was served, and it was tasty and filling.

We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Some rooms are larger than others - ours might have been on the small side for a prolonged stay.

Stayed here for a couple of nights after bad weather put a stop to my plans to walk all of the Cumbria Way.
Very well run establishment, very homely feel to this place, nice decor and furnishings, old fashioned but stylish, reminded me of b&b's used to stay in as a child on holiday with my parents in the 70's. Owners and staff friendly, helpful and efficent, breakfast was good value in both quality and quantity, rooms clean and comfortable.Very close to town centre ( less than 5 minutes walk) Would definitely go back and would recommend staying here if in Keswick.

Room Tip: Apparently the room at the top of the building is two rooms knocked into one, this was done I believ...

This place looks very pleasing on the outside and is even nicer when you get inside. Owners were very polite and friendly, the room was very nice with views onto the lovely hills surrounding the town of Keswick. Breakfast was very pleasant and the bathroom facilities were very good as well. Definitely one to recommend.

Having stayed in Keswick on many occasions over the years we have settled with Acorn House as our accommodation of choice which in itself shows how highly we rate it. Close to the town centre it has the benefit of its own car park which is a bonus in Keswick and there is always a friendly welcome.

On this visit we stayed in the room with the four poster bed which was very comfortable and their was always a good supply of tea, coffee and biscuits. It was also nice touch to have a small number of chocolates topped up every day. We have stayed in other rooms before and have no complaints about any of them. It is a climb to the room on the top floor but if you're walking the fells this really shouldn't be a problem.

Breakfast is plentiful without being overpowering with a constant supply of tea and toast if required.

Acorn House gives us everything we want from a stay in the Lake District. It's not flash - and that is meant as a complement - but is warm and welcoming so is a perfect base for walkers. Highly recommended.

Just returned from another trip to the Acorn. Had a fantastic bank holiday stay. Breakfasts very tasty and set you up for the day. Hubbie had scrambled eggs on toast last morning and said they were tastiest he had ever had. We cannot wait to go back.
Staff very helpful and friendly.

We visited Acorn House Hotel for the second time at the end of July for our second wedding anniversary, having previously visited four years ago. It was still as lovely.

We got their best room at a reasonable rate (£176 for two nights at the weekend). Four poster bed, sitting area, TV, shower over bath, amazing view. In fact, depending on your personal exhibitionist tendencies, you can even sit on the toilet and look down the street! Haha! There is a relaxing lounge area with books, games and a piano if you fancy a tinkle on the ivories! I wouldn't recommend playing the huge gong in the hallway - even though a beater is provided...

The lovely town centre of Keswick is literally a two minute walk down the road and the whole place feels very safe to walk around at any time of day or night. The hotel is secure, with onsite parking (a huge bonus in Keswick!)

Breakfast was cooked to your specifications, or there was a choice of cereals, fruit, toast, etc.

All in all, I would happily return and recommend this to friends.

(Hint hint, husband dearest!)
