This is a good place to stay. Rooms are unfussy and the breakfast is well cooked and plentiful. One of the advantages is that Carole and Kev take single night bookings - a bonus for those of us with limited time. For this reason alone I'd return. The friendly welcome and breakfast provide 2 other reasons.

We stayed here for three nights while doing the Cumberland Way. Had a twin room with en suite shower room. Room light and airy and very clean. Breakfast excellent. Carol and Kev are very friendly and helpful. Relaxed atmosphere and soggy walkers with wet muddy boots are made very welcome. Keswick itself is a good place to stay - good choice of restaurants, we found plenty to do on a day off from walking and also enjoyed a trip to the theatre to see an excellent production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

You're spoilt for choice with Keswick B&B's, so I would expect that many of them are similarly good. Cranford is no exception - it's a solid choice which won't disappoint you. Rooms seem a little small and are fairly plain, but are clean and have all the things you need. There's a cupboard on the landing for you to help yourself to toiletries rather than having masses in every bathroom, which seems sensible. The owners are really helpful, nice people - relaxed, but run the place well. Breakfast is good and plentiful, although the breakfast room can get a bit cramped if most guests are there at once. It's worth mentioning that if someone's having a a cigarette outside at the back of the house, the smell of this can drift upstairs to the bedrooms - this might bother some people, I guess. Overall a nice B&B which met our expectations.

Stayed at Cranford House Keswick in Twin Ensuite Room. Originally in double room which was a mistake and it was no problem for Carol to change our room and move our things while we were out exploring. Yes, house was a little overcrowded with personal items but it was very quaint, which showed my sister-in-law and myself just how the locals lived. Breakfast was excellent and Carol also cooked us a traditional Roast on a Sunday night which was just wonderful. They made us feel very welcome and we could come and go as we liked, use their lounge area and it was wonderful to be able to sit and chat with them. Within walking distance to the village which was very "Old English" and quaint.
Would certainly recommend Cranford House and Keswick. Additional bonus - it snowed while we were there - Breathtaking!

B&B located in main area with all other B&B's. Good location, only 5 mins walk to the town centre, which has many shops, pubs, restaurants etc.
We stayed in a double room with en-suite and although a little on the small side it was clean, tidy, and had a TV and tea and coffee making facilities.
Nice breakfast, with a choice of full English, veggie or continental and loads of tea and toast!
Carol and Kev (the owners) were helpful and friendly and we look forward to staying there again soon.

4 Floor residential townhouse of average quality, showing lots of wear & tear. New owners that really need to renovate.

Carole the host is accommodating and friendly. Home is disorderly and disorganized and rooms are basic. Ensuite is carpeted and moldy. No extras here - no fridge, alarm clock, dvd player or fluffy towels. Carole nice enough to let you use compter in son's room.

Location to town, laundry (1/2 a block away), pay phone (right outside) are a definite most.

Breakfast is absolutely excellent with choices of meat, veggie or continental.
