The dog and I love this lake! It is amazing in all weathers. Peaceful, stunning views. I love that the lake is not too busy even in the summer.

Stunning scenery all around, Derwentwater is like many of the other waters in the Lake District in as much as it reflects many different moods according to the weather.
Plenty of beachside access, and boats (including hire row and motor boats and the attractive and famous wooden lake pleasure steamers).

Good lakeside walks (including a gentle stroll through the lakeside pine forest accessed from Keswick - passing the Theatre by the Lake.

Just off the lakeside path is a small detour to the Ruskin Stone, commemorating the famous English art critic of the Victorian era, who was also an art patron, draughtsman, watercolourist.

Really beautiful lake with great mountain scenery. The launches are great value and really easy to use.

We took the 50 minute trip around the lake and it was delightful - just under £10 per person. You can jump off at any of the many stops and catch a later boat so can make a whole day of it.

Beautiful location. Would recommend a trip on the launch either going all round the lake in about 50 mins or getting off at one of the many stops and walking in the lovely lakeland fells.
