“Good place to stay..”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

Had to change my arrangements at late notice and could only stay one of two nights booked. I duly paid for two nights on check out as expected...it was my own fault after all. Enjoyed our time in the area but did not get chance to sample the restaurant. We had a comfortable nights rest and have to say breakfast was excellent.

The only slight negative as I've read in previous reviews was the room needed updating other than that everything was fine.

In late June we celebrated our Golden Wedding anniversary at the Brantwood with family and friends. WE were in the small private back room, really lovely , our meals was all excellent and really hot , the service was of a very high standard and all really friendly staff Richard the owner could not do enough for us through out our stay. Some of us stayed the night in excellent rooms very comfortable everything you needed, the beds are really good and all had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was hot and plenty to start the day.So a big thank you to Richard and all his staff at The Brantwood Hotel Stainton Cumbria Looking forward to our next family occasion.

Only had one night here but found the hotel to capture that quiet ambience you sometimes need for a switch off from the world.
The room was well appointed and the evening meal was excellent in a room full of locals which is always a good sign.
It is close to The Lakes for anyone who wants to tour that area or as in our case only 10 minutes from the M6 for anyone travelling past.
We will hope to call in again.

Stayed here for a couple of nights and really liked the place, it had lots of character. We stayed in room 6 which I believe is the refurbished room. It didn't feel like a refurbished room and would have benefitted from a coat of paint and the window being looked at, the glass was cracked and the frame was past its best. Only really spoke to one member of staff, the girl who served the breakfast and she was very nice, as was the breakfast itself, didn' have a meal here as we ate elsewhere. A lovely place and would stay again although I think the whole place would benefit from a lick of paint as we spotted dirty walls everywhere.

As others have stated, the rooms need a little attention, and actually some refurb is taking place. But this does not in any way detract from the charm of this little gem. The rooms are full of character. The hotel is in a peaceful little village called Stainton, close to Penrith, and all that this part of the Lake District has to offer. The garden is lovely, we could hear the birds singing and chickens and baby chicks were roaming freely, much to the delight of some children who were staying. The staff were very attentive and nice, the food in the restaurant was delicious. I am so glad we had to stop overnight here, because we intend to return for a holiday. We recommend that you try it.

Just had sunday lunch at this hotel, it was great! Although the hotel is local to me it is several years since we last visited it. My husband had a starter of prawns and salmon and declared that it was delicious! We then moved on to our main courses which were traditional sunday lunch. We chose lamb and beef which came with traditional trimmings without fault, enjoyed by all. The ranges
ca of homemade desserts is extensive. My husband had a slight problem with his sticky toffee pudding but this was rectified immediately. The trifle was lovely. Coffee followed what was a very enjoyable meal. It certainly won`t be several years before we visit again!

We enjoyed our short stay at Brantwood. Very pleasant dining room, good food, caring staff and excellent parking and garden space. Bedroom very short of space, fairly basic, good en suite. Location quiet and handy for Lakes and M6
