Our first time at Centerparcs Whinfell & most probably our last!
Everyone told us we'd love it. We didn't...
We stayed in an Original Style Executive Villa in Bilberry Wood & it was truly awful. Quite how it can be described as 'Executive' is beyond me?? Maybe if you'd stayed here in 1997 but not anymore!

Inside was tired, old, grubby & quite honestly barely more than 2* accommodation - if that!
On arrival it appeared clean enough but on closer inspection it was really dirty. Dust in the corners of every room, dents & scratches all over the walls & furniture, broken rusty old stairgates on the rickety, creaky stairs. The kitchen work top was warped & bent. The dishwasher rollers were missing from the trays. The fridge was tiny, old & really needed a deep clean. The carpet most definately had never been replaced since this place was built & it was filthy. The kids feet were actually black from walking on it! The TV's were circa 1990 & the remotes for them had to be cleaned before use.

Bathrooms weren't too bad but found a shower gel in the shower left over from previous guests & the shower curtain over the bath had definately seen better days!
Outside was not much better - the patio area was dirty with cheap, old plastic table & chairs & if you're thinking BBQ, think a few bricks & rack to put a disposable BBQ on! It is not a BBQ at all.
Trading standards could have a field day with the description of this villa - it is totally inaccurate.

I could go on & on but suffice to say it would barely scape a 2 star rating if it wasn't in Centerparcs.
Eventually we decided to have a moan at Guest Services, who were apologetic, but obviously not the least bit surprised at our complaint. They offered £40 gift voucher as a goodwill gesture & came round with a lovely bottle of wine & a box of chocolates which was appreciated. Had we complained earlier, they suggested, we could have been moved, but where to I wonder.?? Another second rate villa?? I'm pretty sure an upgrade would not have been offered.

The Village Centre was lovely though & the changing rooms at the pool had obviously had a recent face lift & were a pleasure to use. The kids loved the pool & slides - but beware it is MEGA busy at this time of year! We went after 5pm which was much more pleasant.
If you come here for a holiday be prepared to pay top dollar for decidedly AVERAGE everything & stay in thoroughly down market accommodation...Then you won't be disappointed.!

Room Tip: Don't bother going unless you can afford the New Style accommodation.

Having heard great things we were left slightly disappointed. Our apartment had not been cleaned properly when we arrived and the last thing you want to do when you arrive on holiday is wash all the dishes, rinse out the bath and sweep floors! We had a 16 month old with us and there was very little to do other than the pool. There are a few soft play areas but they were very sparse for under 5's. We stayed in a lakeside apartment so there was no need at all for bikes. The bike park is about the same distance from the centre as the apartment (2 mins walk) so we just didn't need them. I had imagined lots of nice cycle rides, but no, you'd only really use them to get around. The centre is nice and the pool is excellent. Only downside there is things don't open until 10am and my child is up and wanting to play at about 7 :-) Overall it was ok but I won't be rushing back.

Overall the parc is a nice enjoyable place to stay the accommodation was clean and tidy but had very small rear terrace area. Due to its location in the hills on the A66 it is rugged in parts, not best suited to those that have mobility problems. Something that is not advertised in any of the literature or on the website. My disabled son who is very active struggled to managed with the variant gradients around the parc. Also found the parc is not one of the best for cycling around either. Found the pool was not big enough to accommodate large amount of people at one time.

Ive just arrived home from my break at centre parcs and apart from being exhausted we had a ball. My mum, sister and myself booked a lodge to take our 5 kids on holiday. The lodges can be expensive especially during summer holidays but it was more affordable by splitting the cost 3 ways. There a huge variety of activities to keep children of all ages amused. Our days were jam packed with fun and the kids had a blast. The adults had just as much fun however we were knackered at the end of the day. Sometimes wonder if kids energy will ever run out

We spent a week here in July. Family of 6. There were some real disappointments. Firstly, the lodge was not cleaned properly. A big disappointment as on our frequent other visits this had not been the case.

Secondly, the prices. Some of the prices for activities seemed to have risen dramatically. We also found the cost of groceries at the supermarket to be much higher than in previous years. Pub food had gone up considerably.

Thirdly, the insulation in the lodges must be poor. The heat in the upstairs bedrooms was unbearable. We were reduced to soaking towels in cold water and placing them on top of us to reduce our core body temperature.

The oven did not work when we arrived. A man came out to fix it. He was quick. Found paper had been blocking the burner. He removed it and appeared to hit the burner to get it away.

But for all that we enjoyed our stay. There is nothing quite like it in UK. For that reason we may return.

Room Tip: We always go for the cheapest as there is little difference in quality of the lodges in our experien...

Went with my daughter and 3 teenage grandchildren. Fantastic holiday. Center parcs have all your needs covered and then some more we hadn't thought of! They have things for all ages and if you encounter any problems at all, there is always someone available and delighted to help. The swimming facilities are fun and free, which is so important as it doesn't restrict. There are free play areas for small children in between any activities booked, making it exceptional value for money.

Room Tip: Staying on outer edge is quieter and with bikes everywhere is easy access.

We have just returned from a midweek stay at Whinfell Forest and we had a brilliant time. The whole site was immaculate and the staff were unbelievably helpful and polite. Activities were great and the restaurants were second to none. Would recommend it to anyone and we will certainly be returning in the near future for Winter Wonderland.

Room Tip: We stayed in a 3 bedroom New Style Executive Lodge (with Sauna) at Bilberry Woods and location was i...
