Shared last weekend at Tine and Jim's place with a group of friends. In common with many of the reviews that we've read, we can't fault any aspect of our hosts' hospitality. From the initial welcome, to Jim's sprint down the drive to avoid me leaving my iPhone connector on our departure, the attention to detail was staggering. The choice and standard of the breakfasts were superb and Tine surpassed herself with the evening meal that we enjoyed as an option on the Saturday night.

Enjoyed two nights of perfect sleep in the very comfortable beds in total peace, quiet and complete darkness, with a sense of escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in the 'real world'.

Can't wait for our return!

What a wonderful place to stay... the pheasant wandered past our room, the birds were always feeding outside our window and our hosts made sure that we made the very best of our time in the Lakes District. Each day, over breakfast, Tine and Jim would discuss what we could do and how to do it. They are both hugely well informed about the local walks, bike rides, mountains and the local attractions. When talking to them, we both felt that they were talking from personal experience and had "been there and done that".
The B& B was spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable. Tine provided beautiful home made muffins in our room each afternoon which was a lovely touch after an active day. the breakfasts were perfect - individually cooked with perfect scrambled eggs.
Lowthwaite is a little off the beaten track and we were glad that we had our GPS to help us find our way back there at night - there is no street lighting and the local roads are narrow and the signposting seemed somewhat idiosyncratic.
We highly recommend Lowthwaite and would love to return.

Room Tip: The Garden Room had the birds just through the window which had an outdoor seat and table for our us...

One of the best stays I have had anywhere. Wonderful, cozy and private room with two single beds and a very nice bathroom.

I stayed four nights and the only disappointment was having to leave early Friday morning and miss one of Tine's breakfasts! I will dream about the food! Full cold buffet with granola, yogurt, raisins, nuts, stewed fruit, etc. Then the real meal starts. I had the same full veggie breakfast 3 days straight. Creamy scrambled eggs, roasted mushrooms and tomatoes, beans, fresh bread (2 or 3 varieties), wonderful coffee or tea, juices, etc. This was enough food to power us through lunch and 3-4 hours of mountain and road biking everyday. My cycling friend had the same meal twice and then opted for the french toast. I am sure he would have licked the plate had he been at home.

Even though Jim and Tine said they weren't cyclists, they knew enough to point us to the right rides, the best bike shop to get directions.

Location is excellent if you want to be near Keswick and the Lake District. The drive in to Keswick is easy and there is lots of hiking, biking, sightseeing, and local shopping to do in the area

Highly, highly recommended!

I have just got back from this b & b i went for the night after visiting center parcs spa for my friends birthday and i wish i could have stayed longer. The rooms were lovely i stayed in the blencantha room which had a bed downstaires and toilette and a sitting/ dressing area upstaires with a bathroom. The rooms were lovely and cosy and very clean. The owners were very polite and told us the history of the area and b & b. We were gavin a map with walks and info when we arrived which was v helpful. I have gave it to my parents and highly reccommended the b & b as they regularly go walking. The food was gorgeous and home made with plenty of options for breakfast. I could not fault anything definately worth a visit for at least a full weekends to go on all the lovely walks around the b & b. I would highly reccomend going to the aria force waterfalls 5 min drive from the b & b. i will be visiting this b & b again lovely!

We stayed at Lowthwaite a couple of years ago and rated it highly. - It hasn't changed.

True, it is disappearing into the undergrowth, but once inside it is all good and standards are high. There is nothing critical to say at all, we particularly like the way that all the guest rooms are separate from the owners part of the house so at no time do you feel as though you are intruding into their space.

Take careful note of the directions to the house, it is off the beaten track but beautifully quiet because of it, nothing more than owl hoots to disturb the silence.

Recommended.

Very clean, good quality accomodation with excellent food. Would recommend for a peaceful stay. Beds were excellent and bathroom very clean with everything you need when travelling. Gardens very overgrown blocking views if you expect to see one. However at least the birds don't wake you up at 4am by nesting in the overgrow garden just outside the window. Host could not do enough for you and her attention to detail is excellent. Loved our stay

We stayed with Tine and Jim in July 2012 and just loved it there. On the road there we had our doubts to find any habitat at the end of it but were generously rewarded. The Garden Room is beautiful and comfortable, sleeping there was very peaceful. Since it was that very rainy summer we didn't get to sit on the patio but truly enjoyed to cuddle in the window seats with a hot cup of tea and watch the wide variety of birds just outside. Breakfast was sublime with great choices and lots of homemade things, topped by the squirrel visit right outside the window. Jim was happy to give great hiking advice, lending detailed maps, and always interested in the success. All of them, including the help, were extremely helpful when we had some trouble with a package we were expecting (forgot something at home). The pub nearby was just what we were looking for in the evenings and had great food. Thank you so much, Tine and Jim, for the delightful time. We'd love to come again.
